Role Description The Buyer is a full-time, on-site role based in KOCHI, responsible for selecting and purchasing merchandise that aligns with Sylcon’s brand, customer preferences, and business objectives. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing sales trends and customer demand, sourcing suppliers, negotiating prices and terms, and placing purchase orders for footwear, bags, fashion, and other retail categories as needed. The role involves monitoring inventory levels, coordinating with store teams to understand local requirements, and ensuring timely replenishment of stock.

The Buyer will collaborate with merchandising, operations, and finance teams to optimize assortment, margin, and stock turnover, while maintaining vendor relationships and complying with internal policies and quality standards.

Qualifications

- Experience in purchasing or merchandising within retail, fashion, footwear, with strong ability to analyze sales data and customer trends.
- Proficiency in vendor management, including supplier sourcing, price and term negotiation,



and maintaining long-term supplier relationships.
- Solid inventory and stock planning skills, including demand forecasting, order management, and basic understanding of supply chain processes.
- Comfort with using spreadsheets and retail software or ERP tools for data analysis, reporting, and order tracking.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with store teams, management, and external partners.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple categories or projects within deadlines in a fast-paced retail setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Retail Management, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
- Knowledge of Kerala retail market and customer preferences is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage product assortment, quantity, pricing, and purchase planning.
- Analyse sales, stock, sell-through, and inventory movement.
- Prepare purchase orders and coordinate with suppliers for timely delivery.
- Maintain optimum stock levels across multiple retail stores.
- Identify fast-moving and slow-moving products and take corrective actions.
- Plan seasonal collections, new launches, promotions, and replenishment.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding quality, pricing, lead time, and payment terms.
- Work closely with Sales, Inventory, Marketing, and Store Operations teams.
- Conduct market research to identify new footwear and bag trends.
- Negotiate purchase prices and commercial terms with suppliers.
- Monitor product performance and recommend replacement or discontinuation of slow-moving items.

Preferred Candidate:

- 2–5 years of experience in Buying, Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, or Purchase.
- Footwear, Bags, Fashion, Lifestyle, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of product trends and retail market.
- Good negotiation and vendor-management skills.
- Strong Excel skills; knowledge of VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, MIS and sales analysis preferred.
