POSITION SUMMARY The Business Development Manager (BDM) identifies, pursues, and nurtures new business opportunities on behalf of BOD Services, working remotely from India. This role is the front line of outreach — researching prospects, opening conversations, and building the relationships that feed the sales pipeline. Excellent communication skills are essential, since this role involves near-constant conversation with prospects, partners, and internal stakeholders across time zones.
The ideal candidate is proactive, personable, and comfortable initiating conversations with people they've never met, while representing BOD Services with clarity and professionalism at every touchpoint.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
A Business Development Manager is focused on generating new business opportunities — the BDM is the person who finds and opens doors that the sales team then walks through and closes. In practical terms, this role:
- 1. Researches and identifies prospects: insurance agency owners and office managers (captive and independent) who are losing calls to voicemail or missing leads after hours.
- 2. Does outreach: cold calls, emails, LinkedIn messages, and networking to start conversations with those prospects.
- 3. Qualifies leads: determining which prospects are genuinely worth pursuing (right need, right budget, right timing) before handing them off.
- 4. Builds relationships: nurturing prospects who aren't ready to buy yet, staying on their radar until they are.
- 5. Hands off qualified opportunities to sales: once a lead is warm and interested, passing it to the Sales Manager to close the deal.
- 6. Tracks everything in a CRM: keeping records of who's been contacted,
what was discussed, and what the next step is.
Key distinction from a Sales Manager: a BDM works earlier in the pipeline, opening and warming up opportunities, while the Sales Manager works later in the pipeline, closing deals and managing ongoing client relationships.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & CORE COMPETENCIES
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential — this role is conversation-driven, and clarity, confidence, and warmth in every interaction are non-negotiable.
- Experience: Prior experience in business development, lead generation, or sales is a robust plus; experience in the U.S. insurance or staffing industry is a bonus, though not required.
- Relationship Building: Natural ability to build rapport quickly with people from different backgrounds and levels of seniority.
- Persistence: Comfortable with outreach and follow-up, including handling rejection or silence without losing momentum.
- Organization: Strong ability to manage and track multiple prospects and conversations simultaneously without letting details slip.
- Adaptability: Quick on their feet — able to adjust messaging and approach based on the conversation and audience in real time.
- Work Style: Comfortable working independently and remotely from India while staying closely coordinated with U.S.-based teams across time zones.
