Assistant Director – In-House

Raahi Productions is looking for a fresh and enthusiastic Assistant Director to join our in-house filmmaking team in Mumbai.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who wants to build a career in direction and filmmaking and is willing to be involved in the process from script development and pre-production to rehearsals, shoot execution and post-production coordination.

The role will involve working across different formats, including feature films, web/OTT content, short films, vertical shows, digital content and other productions.

Key Responsibilities

- Read and understand scripts and assist with script breakdowns
- Assist the director/producer in pre-production planning
- Prepare and maintain shoot schedules and call sheets
- Coordinate with actors regarding rehearsals, timings and shoot requirements
- Assist with casting coordination and auditions
- Coordinate with production teams, crew members and other departments
- Assist during rehearsals and scene preparation
- Maintain continuity of scenes, costumes, props and performances
- Assist with location scouting and location coordination
- Support the team during shoots and ensure planned activities are executed smoothly
- Assist in managing daily production requirements on set
- Coordinate between creative and production teams
- Assist with basic content planning and social media requirements
- Maintain production-related documents, references and schedules
- Take responsibility for assigned tasks and ensure timely completion
- Be prepared to travel for shoots, recce, auditions and production work

Who We're Looking For This position is open to freshers who are serious about building a career in filmmaking and direction.

You should have

- Genuine interest in film, storytelling and filmmaking
- Basic understanding of how a film/series is made
- Good communication and coordination skills
- Ability to understand and follow a screenplay
- Strong observation and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing production requirements




- Willingness to work flexible, production-based hours
- Willingness to travel for production work
- Ability to work as part of a team
- A proactive attitude — someone who can identify what needs to be done rather than waiting for instructions every time

Preferred, but not mandatory
- Film school / theatre / media background
- Experience with filmmaking projects, student films, theatre or independent productions
- Basic knowledge of shot division, continuity, call sheets and production workflow
- Basic computer skills, including Google Docs/Sheets or MS Office
- Understanding of Hindi and English

Formal film education is not mandatory. Practical understanding, learning ability, discipline and genuine interest in filmmaking will be valued. Reporting The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director/Producer and the creative/production team.

Work Location

Mumbai, Maharashtra The role is primarily in-house but will require travel for shoots, rehearsals, auditions, meetings, recce and other production requirements.

Working Hours

Production-based flexible hours.

Filmmaking does not always follow fixed office timings, so candidates should be comfortable with schedules that may vary according to production requirements.
