Role Description The Accountant role at Accto is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting operations, including bookkeeping, journal entries, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements.
The role involves handling GST and other statutory compliances, assisting with tax filings, and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting for startup clients. The Accountant will collaborate with internal teams to support fundraising-related financial documentation and provide clear financial insights to clients. This position requires maintaining organized records, using accounting software effectively,
and contributing to continuous improvement of finance processes.
Qualifications
- Robust proficiency in core accounting functions, including bookkeeping, general ledger management, financial reporting, and reconciliation.
- Experience with tax and compliance areas such as GST, TDS, statutory filings, and basic knowledge of corporate regulations relevant to startups.
- Ability to work with accounting and finance tools or software (e.g., Tally, Zoho Books or similar platforms) and comfort with technology-driven workflows.
- Sound analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai, manage multiple client accounts, and collaborate well in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CA Inter, CMA, or equivalent) are an advantage.
- Prior experience in a CA firm, startup, or consulting environment supporting small businesses or early-stage companies is beneficial.
