We are looking for an experienced and result-oriented DGM – Civil to lead and oversee civil construction and EPC projects from planning through execution and completion. The role requires strong experience in EPC contract works, project planning, construction management, cost control, contract administration, and coordination with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal departments.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, within approved budgets, and as per the planned schedules and required quality standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage civil construction and EPC projects from project planning to successful completion.
- Develop and monitor detailed project execution plans, schedules, milestones, and resource requirements.
- Plan and coordinate project activities in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, contracts, and timelines.
- Manage EPC contract execution, including scope, deliverables, timelines, variations, claims, and contractual obligations.
- Review project schedules and identify delays, risks, dependencies, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with consultants, architects, contractors, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and government authorities.
- Monitor construction progress and ensure timely completion of project milestones.
- Review and control project costs, budgets, material requirements, manpower, equipment, and other resources.
- Ensure proper implementation of quality standards, construction specifications, safety procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, BOQs, estimates, method statements, and project documentation.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
- Identify project risks and implement appropriate mitigation and recovery plans.
- Conduct regular project review meetings and provide progress reports to senior management.
- Coordinate with the Planning, Procurement, Accounts, Contracts, Stores, HR, and other relevant departments for smooth project execution.
- Review and approve project-related technical and commercial requirements within the delegated authority.
- Monitor project billing,
work measurements, variations, and certification in coordination with the relevant teams.
- Ensure proper documentation of project progress, approvals, changes, and contractual communications.
- Resolve site-level technical and execution issues and provide timely decisions and guidance to project teams.
- Ensure effective utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and other project resources.
- Establish and maintain project monitoring systems, MIS, dashboards, and progress reporting mechanisms.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with approved time, cost, quality, and contractual requirements.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to Project Managers, Engineers, Planning Teams, and site execution teams.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Management.
Planning & Project Control Responsibilities
- Prepare and review baseline project schedules and detailed execution programmes.
- Monitor planned versus actual progress and identify deviations.
- Develop recovery plans for delayed activities.
- Monitor critical path activities and project milestones.
- Coordinate resource planning for manpower, materials, machinery, and subcontractors.
- Review weekly and monthly project progress reports.
- Analyze project productivity and recommend measures for improving project performance.
- Maintain proper documentation of project schedules, revisions, delays, and recovery actions.
EPC Contract Management
- Manage civil works under EPC and other contractual arrangements.
- Understand contract scope, specifications, BOQ, drawings, milestones, and commercial conditions.
- Monitor contractual compliance by contractors and subcontractors.
- Review variations, additional works, claims, extensions of time, and related documentation.
- Coordinate with the Contracts/Commercial team regarding contractual matters.
- Ensure proper records are maintained for contractual and project-related correspondence.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong experience in EPC project execution and civil construction management.
- Excellent knowledge of project planning and scheduling.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering practices, construction methods, and project controls.
- Positive knowledge of contracts, BOQ, estimation, billing, variations, and claims.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in project planning and reporting tools such as MS Project / Primavera P6 will be preferred.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office and project documentation.
- Ability to work effectively with senior management, clients, consultants, contractors, and site teams.
Experience Requirements
- 15–20 years of overall experience in Civil Engineering / Construction / Projects.
- Strong hands-on experience in EPC contract projects is mandatory.
- Proven experience in project planning, scheduling, execution, and project control.
- Experience in handling large-scale civil projects and multidisciplinary project teams will be preferred.
- Experience in a managerial or senior leadership position is preferred.
Education
- B.Tech / B.E. – Civil Engineering – Mandatory
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
