Overview

We are looking for an experienced Dermatologist to work as an independent consultant and provide professional dermatological expertise for cosmetic, skincare, haircare, and personal-care product development.

The consultant will provide dermatological input throughout the product-development process, including product concept evaluation, ingredient review, formulation assessment, safety and suitability evaluation, product testing, clinical/consumer evaluation, claims review, technical documentation, and final product review.

The role will involve working closely with R&D;, formulation, QA/QC, regulatory, and other technical teams to ensure that products are scientifically appropriate, dermatologically suitable, and supported by relevant technical and clinical evidence.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide dermatological expertise for the development and review of cosmetic, skincare, haircare, and personal-care products.
- Review product concepts based on intended use, target skin/hair concerns, consumer requirements, and intended claims.
- Evaluate formulations from a dermatological and skin/hair compatibility perspective.
- Review the suitability of active ingredients, functional ingredients, botanical ingredients, and other cosmetic raw materials for the intended product.
- Provide scientific and dermatological input regarding ingredient safety, tolerability, irritation potential, sensitization concerns, and appropriate usage levels where applicable.
- Review formulation and product-development data and provide recommendations for optimization.
- Support the planning and review of dermatological, safety, tolerance, patch, compatibility, or other relevant product evaluations.
- Review clinical, consumer, instrumental, or performance-test protocols and results where dermatological expertise is required.
- Interpret dermatological and clinical evaluation data and provide professional recommendations.




- Provide scientific input for product claims and assess whether proposed claims are appropriately supported by available evidence.
- Review technical reports, product dossiers, formulation documentation, specifications, protocols, and other relevant scientific documents.
- Provide dermatological input for product safety and quality assessment.
- Support stability, compatibility, and product-performance evaluations from a dermatological perspective.
- Participate in product review meetings with R&D;, formulation, QA/QC, regulatory, and manufacturing teams as required.
- Provide professional dermatological review and, where legally and professionally permitted, authorized certification, signature, or approval of relevant documentation.
- Maintain appropriate professional independence, scientific integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards throughout the engagement.

Required Skills & Expertise

- Qualified Dermatologist with relevant clinical experience.
- Strong understanding of skin physiology, dermatological conditions, and skin health.
- Knowledge of cosmetic and skincare ingredients and their dermatological applications.
- Understanding of cosmetic, skincare, and haircare formulations.
- Experience evaluating product safety, tolerability, irritation, and skin compatibility.
- Ability to review and interpret clinical and dermatological test results.
- Understanding of cosmetic product claims and supporting scientific evidence.
- Ability to review scientific literature and dermatological research.
- Strong scientific documentation and technical report-review skills.
- Understanding of relevant cosmetic and dermatological regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, scientific, and problem-solving abilities.




- Professional communication and ability to collaborate with technical and R&D; teams.

Educational & Professional Qualification

Essential:

- MBBS with a recognized postgraduate qualification in Dermatology, such as MD/DNB/Diploma in Dermatology, or an equivalent recognized dermatology qualification.
- Valid professional registration/licensure applicable to the consultant's jurisdiction.

Preferred:

- Clinical experience in dermatology and/or cosmetic dermatology.
- Experience working with cosmetic, skincare, haircare, or dermatological product-development teams.
- Research experience, publications, clinical studies, or relevant scientific contributions in dermatology or cosmetic science.
