Position: Estimation / Tendering Engineer

Department: Estimation & Tendering
Reports To: Estimation Manager / Project Manager / Management
Employment Type: Full-Time

1. Job Summary

The Estimation / Tendering Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate quantity take-offs, BOQs, cost estimates, rate analysis, and tender documentation for construction projects.

The position involves reviewing drawings and specifications, measuring quantities, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations, analyzing costs, and preparing competitive and commercially viable tender estimates.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Drawing & Tender Document Review

- Review architectural, structural, MEP and other construction drawings.
- Study project specifications, scope of work and tender documents.
- Understand project requirements, inclusions, exclusions and contractual conditions.
- Identify discrepancies, missing information and scope gaps.
- Review tender addendums and drawing revisions.

B. Quantity Take-Off

- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
- Calculate quantities for materials, labor and other construction activities.
- Prepare and verify BOQs.
- Check consultant/client BOQs against drawings and specifications.
- Identify quantity variations and discrepancies.

C. Cost Estimation

- Prepare detailed project cost estimates.
- Prepare material, labor, equipment and subcontractor cost estimates.
- Carry out rate analysis for individual items.
- Develop unit rates based on current market rates and project requirements.
- Include wastage, transportation, equipment, overheads and other applicable costs.




- Maintain and update a database of material and construction rates.

D. Supplier & Subcontractor Quotations

- Prepare and issue RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors.
- Obtain quotations for materials, equipment and specialist works.
- Compare quotations on technical and commercial terms.
- Prepare quotation comparison statements.
- Clarify inclusions, exclusions and specifications with suppliers/subcontractors.
- Negotiate rates where required and as authorized by management.

E. Tender Preparation

- Prepare tender BOQs and detailed estimation sheets.
- Prepare tender pricing based on drawings, specifications and quotations received.
- Review client/consultant BOQs and price all applicable items.
- Prepare tender summaries and cost breakdowns.
- Identify potential risks and additional-cost items.
- Prepare exclusions, qualifications and clarifications where required.
- Assist in finalizing the tender price for submission.

F. Tender Submission & Documentation

- Ensure all required tender documents are completed accurately.
- Maintain proper records of tender documents, estimates, quotations and revisions.
- Coordinate with management for final tender review and approval.
- Ensure tenders are completed and submitted within specified deadlines.
- Maintain a record of submitted tenders and their status.

G. Post-Tender Support

- Assist management in reviewing client/consultant queries regarding submitted tenders.
- Prepare revised estimates when drawings or scope are changed.
- Assist in analyzing tender results and feedback.
- Upon project award, prepare a detailed estimation handover to the project/procurement team.
- Provide the project team with approved BOQs, quantities, rates, quotations and estimation assumptions.





3. Required Skills

- Strong knowledge of construction estimation and tendering.
- Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent quantity take-off and BOQ preparation skills.
- Strong knowledge of MS Excel.
- Good understanding of construction materials, methods and processes.
- Ability to perform rate analysis and cost calculations.
- Ability to analyze supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work within strict tender deadlines.

4. Software Knowledge

Required:

- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- AutoCAD
- PDF measurement/mark-up software

Preferred:

- Revit
- Quantity take-off / estimating software
- ERP / estimation software

5. Qualification & Experience

- Diploma / Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in construction estimation, quantity surveying or tendering.
- Contractor-side estimation experience is preferred.
- Experience in residential, commercial, villa, fit-out or MEP projects will be an advantage.

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
