Job Description – Production Engineer

Industry: Interior Fit-Out / Retail Fixtures / Furniture Manufacturing

Reports To: Production Manager / Production Head

1. Job Purpose

To plan, coordinate and monitor production activities to ensure that interior furniture, fixtures and components are manufactured on time, as per approved drawings, required quality standards and minimum material wastage.

2. Key Responsibilities

Production Planning & Execution

- Plan daily and weekly production activities based on project requirements.
- Coordinate with Design, PPC, Purchase, Stores, Quality and Projects teams.
- Ensure production targets are achieved as per schedule.
- Monitor job status from cutting to assembly and finishing.
- Identify production delays and take corrective action.

Drawing & Technical Coordination

- Understand production drawings, BOQ, BOM and specifications.
- Clarify technical issues with the Design/Technical team before production.
- Ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings and dimensions.
- Coordinate changes or revisions in drawings with the concerned departments.

Material Management

- Check availability of plywood, MDF, laminates, veneer, hardware, adhesives, edge bands and other materials.
- Coordinate with Stores and Purchase for material requirements.
- Monitor material consumption and minimize wastage.
- Ensure proper utilization and reuse of suitable scrap materials.

Machine & Manpower Management

- Allocate manpower according to production requirements.
- Coordinate with machine operators, carpenters and helpers.
- Monitor machine utilization and production efficiency.
- Coordinate with maintenance for machine breakdowns.

Quality Control

- Check dimensions, finishing, edge banding, assembly and workmanship.
- Ensure products meet approved samples and specifications.
- Coordinate with Quality personnel to identify and rectify defects.




- Reduce rework, rejection and customer complaints.

Production Monitoring

- Maintain daily production records and reports.
- Track production against planned quantities.
- Monitor rejection, rework, wastage and productivity.
- Escalate major production issues to the Production Manager/Head.

Safety & Discipline

- Ensure workers follow safety procedures and use PPE.
- Maintain workplace cleanliness and 5S practices.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of materials and tools.
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents and near misses.

3. Coordination

The Production Engineer will regularly coordinate with:

- Design / Technical Department
- PPC / Planning
- Purchase
- Stores
- Quality
- Project/Site Team
- Maintenance
- Dispatch & Logistics

- Achievement of daily/monthly production targets
- On-time completion of production
- Production productivity
- Material wastage percentage
- Rework and rejection percentage
- Quality of finished products
- Machine utilization
- Manpower productivity
- Reduction in production delays
- Compliance with safety procedures

5. Required Qualifications

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, Civil or a related field.
- Experience in interior fit-outs, furniture manufacturing, retail fixtures or woodworking is preferred.

6. Required Skills

- Knowledge of furniture/interior production processes
- Understanding of production drawings and BOM
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage

- Knowledge of quality and safety procedures

7. Experience

2–5 years of relevant experience in interior manufacturing, furniture, retail fixtures, shopfitting or related production operations.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
