A Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) in Mathematics is primarily responsible for teaching math to middle and secondary school students (typically classes 6 through 10) following standard boards like CBSE or ICSE.
Core Lesson Planning & Instruction
- Curriculum Delivery: Create and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans aligned with the designated school curriculum (e.g., CBSE/NCERT guidelines).
- Concept Clarity: Break down complex mathematical theories—such as algebra, geometry, and arithmetic—into simple, understandable parts using real-life examples.
- Interactive Learning: Use teaching aids, digital tools, and practical problem-solving methods to build analytical skills.
Student Assessment & Progress Tracking
- Assessments: Design, conduct, and grade regular quizzes, class tests, homework assignments, and term examinations.
- Remedial Support: Monitor individual student performance, identify slow learners, and provide additional remedial or coaching sessions.
- Record Keeping: Maintain formal academic logs, grade books,
and regular performance progress reports.
Classroom Management & Environment
- Discipline: Enforce school conduct rules and maintain a protected, inclusive, and positive setting conducive to learning.
- Engagement: Motivate students to actively participate in class discussions and math-related critical thinking tasks.
Collaboration & Administration
- Parent Communication: Attend Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to discuss student progress, behavior, and academic goals.
- Staff Collaboration: Cooperate with fellow teachers and department coordinators on grade-level planning and cross-curricular activities.
- School Events: Participate in institutional meetings, school events, and co-curricular enrichment activities (like math clubs or science-math fairs).
