Technical Engineer - Solar & Battery Energy Systems

About the Role

SunVault is seeking a technically capable and hands-on Technical Engineer to support our growing solar and battery energy business. This role covers the full project lifecycle, including grid connection applications, site assessments, commercial system design, installation technical support, after-sales troubleshooting, customer App training, and installer training.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of solar PV, hybrid inverters, battery energy storage systems and electrical system design, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to installers, sales teams and customers.

Grid Connection Applications

Prepare and submit grid connection applications for solar PV, battery and hybrid energy systems.

Review project requirements against relevant DNSP/network requirements.

Coordinate with electricity distributors, installers and internal teams to resolve connection application issues.

Review inverter capacity, phase configuration, export limits and other technical requirements before submission.

Maintain accurate records of connection applications and approvals.

Site Assessment

Review residential and commercial sites to determine technical feasibility.

Assess switchboards, meter configurations, existing solar systems, installation locations and cable routes.

Review site photos, electricity bills, single-line diagrams and other technical documentation.

Identify potential installation risks or additional works required before installation.

Provide technical recommendations to the Sales and Operations teams.

Commercial Solar & Battery System Design

Design solar PV and battery energy storage solutions for commercial projects.

Analyse electricity consumption, demand profiles and available site information.

Determine appropriate inverter, battery and PV system sizing.

Prepare or review system layouts, equipment selections and Single Line Diagrams (SLDs).

Consider grid limitations, export control, load requirements,



backup requirements and future expansion.

Provide technical input for commercial proposals and project costing.

Installation Technical Support

Provide technical support to electricians and installation teams before, during and after installation.

Assist installers with inverter, battery, smart meter, CT, communications and monitoring configurations.

Troubleshoot commissioning and system configuration issues.

Work with manufacturers and technical support teams where required to resolve complex technical issues.

Help standardise installation and commissioning procedures across our installer network.

After-Sales Technical Support

Diagnose technical issues reported by customers or installers.

Review monitoring platforms, system alarms, error codes and system performance.

Provide remote troubleshooting and determine whether an onsite service visit is required.

Coordinate technical warranty matters with manufacturers and installers.

Maintain explicit technical records for service and warranty cases.

Assist the Operations team in improving response times and customer experience.

Customer App & System Training

Assist customers with system monitoring App setup and account registration.

Explain battery operation, solar generation, grid import/export and basic system monitoring.

Train customers on how to understand their energy usage and system performance.

Prepare simple customer training materials, guides and FAQs where required.

Installer Training

Provide technical training to new and existing installation partners.

Conduct training on product installation, commissioning, system configuration and troubleshooting.

Assist installers in understanding manufacturer installation requirements and technical documentation.

Develop installation checklists,



commissioning procedures and technical training materials.

Work with manufacturers to keep installer training up to date with new products and firmware.

Key Skills & Experience

Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Experience with solar PV, hybrid inverter and/or battery energy storage systems is highly desirable.

Understanding of residential and commercial electrical systems.

Experience with grid connection applications is highly desirable.

Ability to read and prepare electrical drawings and Single Line Diagrams.

Experience with commercial solar or BESS system design will be highly regarded.

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Comfortable communicating directly with electricians, installers, manufacturers and customers.

Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Good computer skills and ability to quickly learn different inverter and battery monitoring platforms.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is technical, practical and solution-focused. You should be comfortable working across different areas rather than focusing only on system design. On one day you may be preparing a commercial battery design, while on another day you may be assisting an installer with commissioning, troubleshooting a customer system, or preparing a grid connection application.

The successful candidate will play an important role in building SunVault's internal technical capability as our solar and battery business continues to grow.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
