We are looking for an experienced Export Manager – International Business Development who can take ownership of expanding House of Pura's international customer base and opening new countries.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in dealing directly with international buyers, distributors, importers, wholesalers, retailers and food companies, and should be capable of independently identifying opportunities, developing relationships, negotiating commercial terms and converting prospects into long-term customers.
This is a sales and business development-focused export role, with a strong emphasis on new country development.
Key Responsibilities1. New Country Development
- Identify and evaluate potential new international markets for House of Pura's products.
- Research market opportunities, competition, pricing, customer requirements and import regulations.
- Develop a systematic pipeline of countries, customers and business opportunities.
- Build entry strategies for new countries and convert them into active markets.
- Identify high-potential countries where Indian food and FMCG products have strong demand.
2. International Business Development
- Identify and approach importers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, supermarket chains, food service companies and private-label customers.
- Generate new international leads through market research, databases, exhibitions, trade platforms, referrals and direct outreach.
- Conduct regular communication with international prospects through email, WhatsApp, phone and video calls.
- Understand customer requirements and develop suitable product and pricing proposals.
- Negotiate pricing, MOQ, payment terms, packaging, private-label requirements and commercial terms.
- Convert enquiries into confirmed purchase orders and long-term business relationships.
3. International Client Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing international customers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for key customers.
- Understand customer needs and identify opportunities to increase business with existing accounts.
- Ensure timely follow-up on quotations, samples, approvals,
orders and repeat business.
- Maintain professional and proactive communication with customers across different time zones.
4. Sales & Revenue Growth
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual export sales targets.
- Build a healthy sales pipeline with measurable opportunities at every stage.
- Focus on new customer acquisition and new country revenue generation.
- Develop repeat business and increase order volumes from existing customers.
- Prepare sales forecasts and regularly report pipeline, conversions and expected business.
5. Trade Shows & Market Development
- Identify relevant international food and FMCG exhibitions and trade fairs.
- Participate in international exhibitions and buyer-seller meets.
- Prepare customer lists and meeting schedules before exhibitions.
- Follow up aggressively after exhibitions to convert leads into business.
- Explore opportunities with Indian embassies, trade bodies, chambers of commerce and international trade organizations.
6. Coordination with Internal Teams
- Coordinate with purchase, sourcing, production, packaging, warehouse, documentation and logistics teams to execute customer requirements.
- Ensure customer commitments are commercially and operationally feasible before confirming orders.
- Coordinate development of private-label products and packaging as required by international customers.
- Work closely with management on pricing and strategic market development.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 5–10+ years of experience in international sales, export sales or international business development.
- Strong experience dealing directly with international customers.
- Proven ability to open new countries and acquire new customers.
- Experience in food, FMCG, agro commodities,
packaged foods or related products will be strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong understanding of international trade and export business.
- Comfortable communicating with customers across different countries and time zones.
- Strong commercial understanding of pricing, margins, MOQ, payment terms and shipping terms.
- Self-driven, aggressive and result-oriented with a strong hunger for new business.
- Ability to independently research markets and identify potential customers.
- Strong follow-up and relationship-management skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally for exhibitions and customer meetings.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The candidate will primarily be measured on:
- Current countries opened
- New international customers acquired
- Export sales generated
- Gross profit generated
- Number and value of qualified international leads
- Conversion of leads into purchase orders
- Repeat business from newly acquired customers
- Growth of existing international accounts
- Development of strategic distributors/importers
