OT/AT Technician

Job Summary:

Responsible for assisting the surgical and anaesthesia teams in preparing the Operation Theatre, handling surgical and anaesthesia equipment, maintaining sterile conditions, and ensuring all required instruments and supplies are available before, during, and after procedures.

Job Role & Responsibilities :

- Prepare the Operation Theatre before scheduled surgeries.
- Arrange and check surgical instruments, equipment, consumables, and sterile packs.
- Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during surgical procedures.
- Prepare and check anaesthesia machines, monitors, suction apparatus, oxygen supply, and related equipment.
- Ensure proper sterilization and infection-control practices are followed.
- Maintain and handle OT instruments and equipment safely.
- Assist in shifting and positioning patients as required for procedures.
- Ensure availability of emergency drugs, consumables, and OT supplies as per departmental protocol.
- Assist with scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and maintaining sterile fields where applicable.
- Count and verify instruments, gauze, needles,



and other surgical materials before and after procedures.
- Clean and prepare the OT after each procedure according to infection-control protocols.
- Maintain OT registers, checklists, equipment records, and procedure-related documentation.
- Coordinate with nursing, housekeeping, CSSD, anaesthesia, and surgical teams.
- Report equipment malfunction, shortage of consumables, or safety issues to the concerned supervisor.
- Follow hospital policies, infection-control standards, patient-safety protocols, and OT procedures.
- Participate in emergency and on-call OT duties when required.

Qualification:

- B.Sc. Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology (B.Sc. OT & AT)
- Relevant hospital/OT experience preferred.
- Freshers may be considered depending on hospital requirements.
