Job Summary

We are hiring a skilled and detail-oriented BOM Engineer on behalf of one of our customers in the automotive engineering and benchmarking domain.

The selected candidate will work as part of the customer's automotive benchmarking team and will be responsible for preparing and maintaining detailed Bill of Material documentation to support vehicle teardown, reverse engineering, benchmarking, analysis, and technical documentation activities.

This role requires strong attention to detail, good understanding of automotive components and assemblies, and the ability to accurately capture part-level information in accordance with defined processes and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed Bill of Material (BOM) documentation for vehicle teardown parts, including:
- Part description
- Assembly level
- Quantity
- Weight
- Material
- Part measurements
- Identify teardown components and understand their functionality to define accurate part descriptions.
- Follow the defined part numbering sequence and assembly-level logic in accordance with the customer's Standard Operating Procedures.
- Measure and record component quantity and weight using appropriate weighing equipment.
- Identify component materials using appropriate material identification tools and methods.
- Measure teardown components using suitable measurement equipment and accurately record dimensions.
- Follow established procedures for:
- BOM definition
- Material identification
- Part measurement
- Documentation
- Data entry
- Quality verification
- Maintain consistency and accuracy in BOM data across vehicle systems, assemblies, and sub-assemblies.
- Work closely with customer engineering teams, teardown teams, and other project members to complete assigned activities within planned timelines.




- Complete assigned tasks within defined time and quality requirements.
- Follow process checklists for each activity performed.
- Perform self-quality checks before submitting completed work.
- Identify and report discrepancies, missing information, or abnormalities observed during BOM preparation.
- Maintain effective communication and coordination with both internal staffing representatives and customer project teams.
- Support continuous improvement of BOM preparation, documentation, and benchmarking processes.

QualificationsEducation

- Diploma / Associate Degree / Bachelor's Degree in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Automobile Engineering
- Production Engineering
- Mechatronics
- or a related technical discipline

Experience

- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in:
- BOM preparation
- Automotive benchmarking
- Vehicle teardown
- Reverse engineering
- Product documentation
- or a related engineering function
- Automotive industry experience is preferred.

Preferred Skills

- Good understanding of automotive components, systems, and assemblies.
- Ability to identify vehicle parts and understand their basic functions.
- Knowledge of automotive materials such as:
- Steel
- Aluminium
- Plastics
- Rubber
- Composites
- Other engineering materials
- Experience with weighing and dimensional measurement equipment.
- Familiarity with BOM structures, assembly hierarchy, and part numbering conventions.
- Robust attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Good documentation and analytical skills.
- Ability to follow SOPs, checklists, and quality procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within planned timelines.

Pay: ₹240,894.34 - ₹400,000.00 per year
