JOB DESCRIPTION – FBW SUPERVISOR
Position: FBW Supervisor – Flash Butt Welding
Department: Production / Railway Projects
Industry: Railway Track / Flash Butt Welding
Location: Project/Site Location
Reporting To: Site Manager / Project Manager / Production Head
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced FBW Supervisor to supervise and coordinate Flash Butt Welding operations at railway project sites. The person will be responsible for managing manpower, machines, welding activities, quality standards, safety requirements, production targets, and daily site reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- FBW Operations
- Supervise day-to-day Flash Butt Welding activities at the railway site.
- Ensure welding work is carried out as per approved procedures, technical specifications, and railway standards.
- Monitor welding machine operation, alignment, welding parameters, and finishing activities.
- Ensure proper handling and positioning of rails before and after welding.
- Production & Target Management
- Plan daily welding activities and achieve assigned production targets.
- Allocate manpower and work responsibilities according to site requirements.
- Monitor completed joints and maintain daily production records.
- Coordinate with the Site Manager for production planning and work schedules.
- Quality Control
- Ensure every welded joint meets required quality standards.
- Coordinate with QA/QC and USFD/NDT personnel for inspection and testing.
- Identify welding defects and ensure corrective action is taken.
- Maintain welding records, inspection reports, and joint-wise documentation.
- Machine & Equipment Management
- Monitor the condition and performance of FBW machines and associated equipment.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and breakdown maintenance.
- Report machine faults and maintenance requirements to the concerned technical team.
- Ensure proper use and safe handling of tools and equipment.
- Manpower Management
- Supervise welders, operators, helpers, electricians, and other site workers.
- Maintain worker attendance and productivity records.
- Train and guide workers regarding proper welding procedures and safety practices.
- Ensure discipline and proper coordination among site personnel.
- Safety Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with railway and company safety procedures.
- Conduct toolbox meetings and communicate safety instructions to workers.
- Ensure PPE is used by all personnel.
- Immediately report accidents, unsafe conditions, and safety violations.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily FBW production reports.
- Maintain records of total joints completed, rejected/reworked joints, machine hours, manpower, and other site activities.
- Submit daily/weekly progress reports to the Site Manager/Project Manager.
- Maintain proper records for railway inspections and project documentation.
- Site Coordination
- Coordinate with railway officials, contractors, engineers, and other project teams.
- Coordinate with stores for welding consumables, spare parts, tools, and other materials.
- Ensure uninterrupted workflow at the welding site.
- Attend site meetings and provide updates on production, quality,
manpower, and machine status.
Required Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Welding, or a related technical field.
- Relevant experience in Flash Butt Welding / Railway Track Welding.
- Experience in supervising manpower and site operations.
- Knowledge of railway welding procedures and safety requirements will be preferred.
Required Experience
- 3–7 years of relevant experience in FBW/railway welding operations preferred.
- Candidates with hands-on experience with Flash Butt Welding machines will be given preference.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of Flash Butt Welding operations.
- Team and manpower management.
- Production and target management.
- Basic understanding of quality inspection and welding defects.
- Machine troubleshooting and maintenance coordination.
- Daily reporting and documentation.
- Positive communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work at railway project sites and manage site conditions.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Daily/monthly FBW joint completion.
- Welding quality and rejection/rework rate.
- Machine utilization and downtime.
- Manpower productivity.
- Compliance with safety procedures.
- Timely submission of production and site reports.
- Compliance with railway/project specifications.
Other Requirements
- Willingness to travel and work at different railway project locations.
- Ability to work in shifts and extended working hours as required by the project.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to independently manage FBW site operations.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per month
