Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Broadcom Datacom/DB Database Administrator with deep, hands-on expertise in CA Datacom/DB version 15.x running in a z/OS mainframe workplace. This is a critical role supporting a high-availability production system currently on Release 15.1 with recommended service level 2409 (production) and 2503 (test), supporting z/OS 3.1.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform day-to-day administration, monitoring, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of CA Datacom/DB Multi-User Facility (MUF) and databases in a 24×7 production setting
• Apply and validate Broadcom recommended service (maintenance) via SMP/E, including planning and executing quarterly recommended service upgrades
• Manage Datacom/DB structures (areas, tables, indexes, SQL access, Multi-Dataset Tables, partitioning, compression, etc.)
• Perform database recoveries using Datacom forward recovery, backward recovery (Dynamic Backward Recovery),



and spill/archive management
• Support Datacom/DB SQL access including plan management, agile plan selection, and optimization for both native Datacom applications and SQL-based reporting tools
• Work closely with application development teams on database design, DDL changes, and impact analysis
• Maintain Datacom/DB security via internal security and/or integration with RACF/Top Secret/ACF2
• Manage Datacom/DB logging (LXX, RXX, PXX), checkpoint processing, and MUF startup/shutdown procedures
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing for Datacom environments
• Automate repetitive tasks using REXX, Datacom utilities (DBUTLTY), or other tools
