Preschool Teacher / Early Years Educator
Position: Preschool Teacher / Early Years Educator
Department: Academic / Early Years
Reporting To: Centre Head / Head of School
Location: Maple Bear Canadian Preschool, Sector 71, Gurugram
Key Responsibilities
1. Child Development & Learning Outcomes
* Plan and implement age-appropriate learning experiences aligned with the Maple Bear curriculum, learning objectives, and developmental outcomes.
* Prepare lesson plans that integrate cognitive, language, social, emotional, physical, and motor development.
* Observe and understand individual children’s developmental needs, interests, strengths, and areas requiring support.
* Track developmental milestones and maintain appropriate observations and records for each child.
* Provide individualised support and adapt activities wherever required to meet varied learning needs.
* Create opportunities for children to develop independence, confidence, communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
2. Classroom Instruction & Activity Planning
* Design and conduct engaging, hands-on, play-based, and experiential learning activities.
* Use storytelling, music, art, craft, role-play, sensory activities, movement, outdoor play, and other age-appropriate methods.
* Ensure effective implementation of the daily schedule and classroom routines.
* Make learning interactive, child-centred, and developmentally appropriate.
* Use classroom resources and learning materials effectively and responsibly.
* Ensure activities are planned in advance and all required materials are ready before the class begins.
* Encourage children to explore, ask questions, experiment, and learn through experience.
3. Classroom Environment & Presentation
* Maintain a clean, organised, attractive, and stimulating classroom environment.
* Ensure the classroom is presentable and aligned with the standards and requirements communicated by the Academic and Business teams.
* Display children’s work, learning resources, themes, and classroom materials appropriately.
* Ensure learning corners, activity areas, displays, and classroom resources are updated regularly.
* Take responsibility for the proper upkeep and use of classroom resources and materials.
4. Child Safety, Health & Well-being
* Ensure a safe, hygienic, caring, and emotionally supportive classroom environment.
* Closely monitor children during classroom activities, transitions, outdoor play, meals, nap time, and other routines.
* Follow all school safety, child protection, hygiene, and emergency protocols.
* Never leave children unattended.
* Identify and promptly report any injury, illness, unusual behaviour, or safety concern to the Centre Head/management.
* Maintain appropriate hygiene practices and encourage children to develop healthy habits.
* Support children’s emotional well-being and provide reassurance, comfort, and age-appropriate guidance.
5. Behaviour Management & Social-Emotional Development
* Promote positive behaviour through encouragement, modelling, and positive reinforcement.
* Teach children sharing, cooperation, empathy, respect, patience,
and appropriate communication.
* Handle classroom behaviour and conflicts calmly and constructively.
* Support children in developing emotional regulation and problem-solving skills.
* Follow the school’s approach to positive discipline and avoid inappropriate disciplinary practices.
* Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported.
6. Parent Communication & Engagement
* Maintain professional and respectful communication with parents regarding children’s learning, development, behaviour, and day-to-day experiences.
* Share relevant observations and updates with parents through approved school communication channels.
* Participate actively in Parent-Teacher Meetings, parent workshops, orientations, events, and other parent engagement activities.
* Address parent queries professionally and escalate concerns to the Centre Head whenever required.
* Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and school matters.
* Work collaboratively with parents to support children’s learning and development at home and at school.
7. Documentation, Assessment & Reporting
* Maintain accurate attendance records and other classroom documentation.
* Prepare lesson plans and maintain assessment and observation records as per school requirements.
* Maintain individual child portfolios and developmental documentation.
* Record and report children’s progress, observations, achievements, and areas requiring support.
* Complete assessments and reports within the stipulated timelines.
* Document and immediately report any incidents, accidents, injuries, or safeguarding concerns as per school protocol.
* Ensure all academic and administrative records are accurate and up to date.
8. Daily Team Coordination & School Operations
* Participate in regular daily team meetings to align on upcoming activities, events, PTMs, classroom requirements, and other operational matters.
* Coordinate with fellow teachers and support staff for smooth functioning of the centre.
* Support school events, celebrations, workshops, field trips, special activities, and other centre initiatives.
* Ensure timely preparation for events and classroom activities.
* Follow the school calendar, academic calendar, daily schedule, and operational processes.
* Support daycare activities or other assigned responsibilities when required.
* Maintain punctuality, attendance, professional conduct, and adherence to school policies.
9. Collaboration with Academic & Central Teams
* Work closely with the Centre Head, Academic Team, Business Team, and Central Team to ensure consistent implementation of school standards.
* Participate in teacher training, curriculum training,
certification programmes, workshops, and professional development initiatives.
* Implement feedback received through classroom observations and academic reviews.
* Continuously develop knowledge of early childhood education, child development, classroom practices, and emerging educational approaches.
10. Marketing & Digital Support
* Coordinate with the Digital/Marketing Team for school-related online promotions and communication requirements.
* Share good-quality photographs, videos, classroom activities, celebrations, and learning moments as required, while strictly following school guidelines regarding children’s privacy and consent.
* Support the creation of content showcasing classroom learning and school activities.
* Provide inputs and creative requirements to the relevant team in advance for events, activities, and promotional initiatives.
* Maintain qualified representation of the school across all communication and promotional activities.
11. Professional Development
* Participate actively in all mandatory training, workshops, meetings, and professional development programmes.
* Complete required teacher training and certifications in alignment with the Maple Bear Central/Academic Team.
* Stay updated on best practices in early childhood education, child development, play-based learning, and experiential education.
* Seek continuous improvement based on feedback, observations, and professional learning.

Qualifications & Experience
* Graduate degree in any relevant discipline; NTT/ECCE/Montessori/ECE qualification preferred.
* Prior experience in preschool/early years education preferred.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong understanding of early childhood development and play-based learning.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
