Job Summary
The Coding Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is primarily responsible for determining the appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes to be applied to patient accounts for billing purposes based on providers’ documentation in the patient’s medical record.

Essential Functions and Tasks




Assigns appropriate billing codes to patient accounts. Performs ongoing analysis of medical record documentation for completeness.
Provides feedback to Coders on coding discrepancies.
Provides feedback to Coding Supervisor on documentation deficiencies.
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Four (4) years of Emergency Department (ED) and Hospitalist Medicine coding experience.
Certified Skilled Coder (CPC), or equivalent, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
Knowledge of the requirements of medical record documentation.
Strong database software skills.
Solid oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Solid time management skills.
Strong organizational skills.
