Position Summary

The HOD for SID/Power Plant leads, directs, and manages the operations and maintenance (O&M;) of the Sponge Iron Kilns or the Captive Power Plant (CPP) to ensure maximum production, high operational efficiency, equipment reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Production Management
Target Achievement: Responsible for achieving daily, monthly, and annual production targets of Sponge Iron (DRI) or power generation (MW).
Process Optimization: Monitor and optimize kiln operations, raw material input (iron ore, coal), temperature profiles,



and discharge quality to ensure high-grade DRI production.
Power Plant Management: Manage boilers, turbine-generator (TG) sets, and auxiliary equipment for effective power generation.
Monitoring & Control: Oversee DCS (Distributed Control System) operations and coordinate with production, maintenance, and quality departments to ensure smooth flow.
Maintenance & Asset Management
Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance: Direct planning and execution of preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance for heavy machinery (kilns, coolers, conveyors, crushers, turbines, boilers).
Asset Life Cycle: Ensure maximum uptime of equipment, reducing breakdowns to improve reliability.
Spares Management: Manage inventory of critical spares, consumables, and rapid-moving items to minimize downtime.
