Department: Mechanical Maintenance

Education Requirement: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

Experience Required: 8 to 10 years of core experience in Thermal Power Plant maintenance, with mandatory, proven expertise in Coal Handling Plant (CHP) machinery.

Job Purpose

To maximize plant availability, reliability, and equipment life through strategic preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all bulk material handling assets, ensuring zero operational bottlenecks.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Asset Reliability & Maintenance: Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance for critical CHP equipment including Wagon Tipplers, Side Arm Chargers, Crushers, Screens, Stackers, Reclaimers, and thousands of meters of Conveyor Belts.

Breakdown & MTTR Management: Lead rapid-response teams during mechanical failures to minimize Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), troubleshoot root causes (RCA), and eliminate recurring breakdowns.

Conveyor & Structural Integrity: Oversee belt splicing, vulcanizing, idler replacements, gearbox overhauls, fluid coupling maintenance, and structural repairs of chutes and skirt boards.

Monsoon Preparedness: Implement aggressive pre-monsoon maintenance overhauls, focusing on scraper efficiency,



chute liner replacements, and underground sump pump readiness to handle wet coal.

Housekeeping Equipment Upkeep: Maintain the mechanical integrity of Dust Suppression Systems (DSS), Dry Fog networks, Dust Extraction (DE) bag filters, and industrial vacuum/washdown systems.

Spares & Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels for critical insurance spares, bearings, wear-resistant liners (tarab/UHMWPE), and consumables to avoid long maintenance delays.

Safety & LOTO Compliance: Enforce rigorous Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) protocols, confined space entry permits, and hot work safety standards for all maintenance technicians and contractors.

Contractor Management: Supervise third-party maintenance contractors, evaluate their daily performance, and manage annual maintenance contracts (AMCs).

Key Competencies Required

Technical Mastery: In-depth knowledge of heavy-duty gearboxes, alignment techniques, vibration analysis, and hydraulics/pneumatics used in bulk material handling.

Shutdown Planning: Robust capabilities in resource planning, budgeting, and executing time-bound breakdown overhauls under high pressure.
