Job Summaryfor the Senior Technical Program Manager

As a Senior Technical Program Manager you will:

- Be responsible for planning, execution, and delivery, from inception to completion, for an existing technology product or program.
- Drive continuous improvement of success metrics across the Program.
- Proactively manage the end-to-end delivery of engineering work through the engineering team and all dependent organizations.
- Report on progress, ensuring dependencies are covered.
- Operate between teams and architectures-overseeing the gaps between teams, processes, and systems, while removing all blocking issues leading to a successful delivery.

All About You

- 8+ years of overall career experience in a similar field.
- Strong understanding of project & program management techniques around cost, schedule, quality, etc.
- Experience building and releasing APIs and/or other software infrastructure.
- Strong understanding and experience with Agile development.
- Knowledge and practice of numerous patterns and techniques to improve team processes (i.e., Burndown techniques, retrospective formats, defect handling, etc.).
- Strong stakeholder management skills across a variety of audiences (Business Owners, Development Teams, etc.).
- Coordination and organization skills and the ability to work with multiple groups across multiple locations to ensure the success of the project.
- Verbal and written communication is explicit and concise.
- Good skills around situational awareness, conflict resolution, transparency, and empowerment; models servant leadership.

Program Management

- Assist with program management activities around cost, schedule, quality, etc.
- Tie what teams are developing back to the why, the big program picture.
- Maintain and present program-related information & metrics for leadership review.
- Drive initiatives for automation, defect metrics, and overall quality initiatives.
- Advance operational and business concerns or issues relative to future business programs, projects,



or enhancements that may affect the consistent delivery of quality services.
- Recommend strategic direction, continuous improvements, and policy changes.

Project Management

- Plan, execute, and deliver projects from inception to completion related to a known technology, product, or program.
- Proactively manage the end-to-end delivery of engineering work through the organization and all dependent organizations, reporting out progress, ensuring dependencies are covered, overseeing the gaps between teams, processes, and systems, while removing all blocking issues leading to a successful delivery.
- Build and maintain integrated project schedules that account for internal/external dependencies, differing delivery approaches, numerous constraints, and adequately factor in contingency for unplanned delays.
- Negotiate features and associated priorities and help the team and their customers reach consensus.
- Collaborate with engineering managers to secure resources, scope efforts, set priorities, and establish delivery milestones.
- Figure out the sequencing of the work so that engineering execution can be optimized.
- Identify blocking issues and manage their resolution.
- Coordinate with various groups in MasterCard across locations to ensure the success of the projects.
- Manage dependencies, owners, actions, risks, and mitigations.
- Own project communications and ensure the right information about the status of a project is delivered to the right audience at the right time.




- Understand your team's technologies and are able to evaluate system designs and architecture as you participate in solution discussions.
- Build a trusting and safe environment for the team where problems are discussed without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
- Have good working relationships with engineers, managers, and peers.
- Recognize discordant views.
