We are seeking a Data Engineer to help design, build and evolve enterprise and geospatial data platforms that support major infrastructure, planning, environmental and land projects across the UK. This role combines data engineering, cloud technologies, database architecture and geospatial data management within a growing digital team delivering cutting-edge solutions to complex client challenges.
Working within a growing geospatial and data practice, you'll help build data platforms that support some of the UK's most significant infrastructure, energy, planning and land projects. You'll combine cloud data engineering, database architecture and geospatial data management to underpin decision-making at scale.
You’ll be accountable for ensuring our data platforms are resilient, secure, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
Responsibilities
Database Ownership & Architecture
• Lead the design, construction, and optimisation of SQL Server databases that support core business applications and reporting.
• Own the database schema, data models,
indexing strategies, and performance tuning.
• Manage data ingestion pipelines and integrations, ensuring reliable, accurate, and high-quality data flow into the database.
• Oversee database governance, documentation, security standards, and access controls.
Data Engineering & Reporting
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Azure Data Factory.
• Develop reporting and data delivery solutions using Power BI, SSRS and other business intelligence tools.
• Build robust data models for Power BI and support analysts with well-structured datasets.
• , Experience with Python or similar scripting languages for automation, data transformation, and advanced analytics.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as the primary technical owner for the database (s) within multidisciplinary project teams.
