JOB DESCRIPTION FBW RAIL WELDING PROFILER

Position: FBW Rail Welding Profiler

Reporting To: FBW Supervisor / Site Manager

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced FBW Rail Welding Profiler responsible for rail-end profiling and finishing of Flash Butt Welded (FBW) joints. The candidate will ensure that welded rail joints are properly profiled, finished, and prepared as per required railway specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out profiling and finishing of Flash Butt Welded rail joints.
- Operate rail profiling/grinding machines and related tools safely and efficiently.
- Remove excess weld material and achieve the required rail profile after welding.
- Ensure proper alignment and smooth finishing of the welded rail joint.
- Check the finished rail profile using appropriate gauges, templates, and measuring instruments.
- Identify surface defects, unevenness, grinding marks, and other abnormalities.
- Coordinate with the FBW Operator, Supervisor, QA/QC and USFD team for joint inspection.
- Carry out re-profiling or corrective grinding whenever required.
- Maintain proper records of completed weld joints and profiling work.
- Ensure machines, grinding wheels, tools, and equipment are maintained in positive working condition.
- Report machine breakdowns, tool requirements, and technical issues to the supervisor.




- Follow railway safety procedures and ensure proper use of PPE.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety at the work location.
- Follow all instructions related to welding quality, rail profile, and site procedures.

Qualification

- ITI in Fitter / Welder / Machinist / Mechanical Trade preferred.
- Candidates with relevant railway/FBW experience will be preferred.

Experience

- 2–5 years of experience in railway track work, FBW, rail grinding, rail profiling, or related activities preferred.
- Experience in operating rail profiling/grinding equipment will be an advantage.

Required Skills

- Knowledge of FBW joint finishing and rail profiling.
- Ability to operate profiling/grinding machines.
- Basic knowledge of rail dimensions and profiles.
- Ability to use measuring instruments and gauges.
- Good understanding of workplace safety.
- Ability to work in shifts and at railway project sites.
- Good coordination and teamwork skills.

Other Requirements

- Willingness to travel to different railway project locations.
- Ability to work outdoors and in shift-based operations.
- Physically fit for site-based work.
- Candidates with hands-on FBW rail profiling experience will be given preference.
