1. PURPOSE AND OVERVIEW
The purpose of this position is to establish a robust sales and business development footprint across key Indian tourist source markets. The representative will act as the primary point of contact in India for travel agencies, outbound tour operators, corporate clients, and group organizerssourcing, negotiating, and closing group travel bookings to Nepal.
The ground logistics, hotel bookings, transportation, guides, and on-site operation will be managed entirely by our backend Destination Management Company (DMC) team based in Nepal.
2. SCOPE OF WORK & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. B2B Sales & Network Expansion
- Agent Acquisition: Identify, contact, and onboard retail travel agents, regional outbound tour operators, and group tour organizers across India.
- Product Promotion: Pitch ready-made and customized Nepal itineraries catering specifically to Indian traveler segments:
Pilgrimage Circuits: Pashupatinath, Muktinath, Janakpur, Lumbini.
Leisure & Honeymoon: Kathmandu, Pokhara, Nagarkot, Chitwan. Destination wedding event.
Overland & Adventure: SUV/Bike self-drive expeditions via major land borders (Sunauli, Raxaul, Panitanki). Trekking – ABC, EBC other routes.
MICE & Corporate: Incentive trips, corporate off-sites, and casino leisure packages.
- Field & Direct Meetings: Conduct in-person sales calls, travel agency visits, and virtual presentations to present our DMC’s service capabilities in Nepal.
B. Lead Generation & Deal Closure
- Requirement Gathering: Collect detailed group trip requirements (pax count, budget, hotel preferences, transport requirements,
travel dates).
- Coordination with Nepal HQ: Pass leads to the Nepal backend office for costing and customized proposal generation.
- Negotiation & Conversion: Present proposals to Indian travel partners, negotiate terms, finalize pricing, and secure confirmed group bookings.
C. Account Management & Payment Support
- Client Relationship Management: Maintain ongoing relationships with active travel partners to secure repeat business throughout peak and off-peak seasons.
- Payment Facilitation: Assist the finance team in collecting advance deposits and full payments from Indian clients in accordance with agreed booking terms.
- Post-Trip Feedback: Gather post-tour feedback from tour operators and group leaders to continuous improve service quality.
3. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
1. New B2B Onboarding: Onboard 15–20 active Indian travel agencies/organizers per month into our booking network.
2. Confirmed Group Output: Secure a minimum target of 3–5 confirmed group bookings per month (average size: 15+ passengers per group).
3. Pipeline Reporting: Maintain and submit a weekly pipeline report detailing meetings, active leads, quoted packages, and conversions.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience in travel sales, outbound tour operations, or destination representation in India.
- Established Network: Active contacts within Indian travel agent associations (e.g., TAAI, TAFI, OTOAI) and local retail travel agency networks.
- Destination Knowledge: Strong understanding of Nepal’s geography, visa/border entry rules for Indians, high seasons, and major tourism circuits.
- Communication Skills: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills in English and Hindi (regional languages like Bengali, Gujarati, or Marathi are a plus).
- Technical Skills: Knowledge regarding the GDS and NDS pertaining to ticketing will be an advantage.
5. PROPOSED COMPENSATION MODELS
(Select one during contract execution)
- Option 1: Retainer + Performance Commission
Fixed monthly retainer (to cover local travel, calls, and operational expenses) + 5% to 8% commission on the net profit margin per closed group.
- Option 2: Pure Commission Model
10% to 15% commission on the net profit margin of every confirmed group brought to the agency.
- Option 3: Volume-Tiered Incentive
Progressive commission percentage scaling upwards as monthly group volume milestones are achieved.
6. DURATION AND EVALUATION
- Initial Contract Period: 6 Months (Extendable based on performance review).
- Probationary Assessment: Performance review conducted at the end of Month 3 based on network outreach and pipeline leads generated.
