Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced VTL Operator-cum-Setter to operate and set VTL machines for tool-room components, mould components and precision machining jobs. The candidate should be capable of independently handling machine setting, machining operations, dimensional inspection and offset corrections as per engineering drawings and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and set VTL machines for tool-room, mould and precision machining components.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances and machining requirements.
- Perform turning, facing, boring, grooving and threading operations.
- Select suitable cutting tools and inserts based on material and machining requirements.
- Carry out proper workpiece alignment, clamping and machine setting.
- Select appropriate spindle speed, feed and depth of cut for machining operations.
- Measure components using micrometer, vernier caliper, bore gauge and other measuring instruments.
- Perform dimensional inspection and make necessary tool/offset corrections.
- Maintain required quality,
dimensional accuracy and surface finish of machined components.
- Follow safety procedures, housekeeping standards and tool-room work practices.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience in VTL machine operation and job setting.
- Positive knowledge of turning and general machining processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances.
- Good knowledge of cutting tool and insert selection.
- Ability to perform workpiece alignment and accurate machine setting.
- Knowledge of speed, feed and depth-of-cut selection.
- Practical knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to handle tool-room components, mould components and precision machining jobs.
- Basic knowledge of CNC/VTL programming will be an advantage.
Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or related engineering discipline preferred.
- Relevant hands-on VTL machining experience will be considered.
Candidate Profile
- 25 years of relevant experience in VTL operation and setting.
- Good attention to dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Ability to work independently and meet production requirements.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing/tool-room environment.
