1. Position Overview

MIT Academy of Engineering, Pune is looking for a skilled and versatile Video Editor & Videographer to lead all video content creation for the institute — from event coverage and social media reels to institutional films and promotional videos. The role requires end-to-end ownership of the video workflow: operating camera equipment for shoots, editing footage to a professional standard, and maintaining a well-organized video archive. The candidate will report directly to the Dean, Branding & Communication, and will work closely with the graphic design team and other departments to ensure timely, high-quality video output for all institutional needs.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Plan and shoot videos for institutional events, seminars, workshops, campus activities, student testimonials, and promotional campaigns.
- Operate and manage various types of camera equipment (DSLR, camcorders, gimbals, drones if applicable) along with lighting and audio gear for skilled-quality shoots.
- Shoot short-form content such as Instagram/YouTube reels, behind-the-scenes clips, and quick-turnaround social media videos.
- Edit raw footage into polished final videos — including trimming, color correction/grading, sound design, motion graphics/titles, and transitions — as per institute branding norms and platform-specific formats.
- Manage the complete shoot-to-publish pipeline for events, ensuring videos are delivered within agreed timelines, including same-day/next-day turnaround for time-sensitive event content.
- Coordinate event-day logistics for video coverage — scheduling shoots, planning shot lists, coordinating with organizers, and managing multiple simultaneous event coverage needs where required.
- Maintain an organized, backed-up, and easily retrievable video database/archive of raw footage and final edited videos, with proper naming conventions and folder structures.
- Collaborate with the graphic design team to integrate motion graphics, lower-thirds, branding elements, and static assets into video content.
- Work directly with the Dean, Branding & Communication to understand content briefs, messaging priorities, and review/approve final cuts before publishing.
- Manage and stay proficient in various video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Capcut etc) and keep up with evolving tools and techniques.
- Ensure all video content adheres to institute branding guidelines (intro/outro templates, logo usage, color palette, tone) and platform-specific technical specifications (aspect ratio, resolution, format).
- Archive and catalog historical video assets (past events, convocations, campaigns) for reuse in future institutional communication, anniversaries, and accreditation requirements.
- Coordinate with external videographers, drone operators, podcast studio, or production vendors when additional resources are required for large-scale events.

- Manage storage infrastructure (hard drives/cloud) for video assets, ensuring adequate backup and data security protocols are followed.
- Support the graphic designer(s) and broader branding team during peak periods (admissions season, convocation, flagship events) to ensure consistent media output.

3. Educational Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mass Communication, Film Making, Videography, Multimedia, Animation, or a related field.
- Additional certification in Video Editing, Cinematography, or Motion Graphics will be an added advantage.
- A strong portfolio/showreel demonstrating both event videography and post-production editing work will be considered equally important as formal qualifications.

4. Experience Required

- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant, hands-on experience in videography and video editing, with a proven portfolio spanning event coverage, social media content, and longer-format institutional/corporate videos.
- Prior experience working with an educational institute, university, corporate media/branding team, production house, or event management company is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing the full shoot-to-edit pipeline independently, including tight-turnaround event deliverables.
- Experience maintaining and organizing large video archives/databases is preferred.
- Experience coordinating with vendors, freelancers, or junior crew during large events is a plus.

5. Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

- Hands-on proficiency in operating DSLR/mirrorless cameras, camcorders, gimbals/stabilizers, external audio recorders, and lighting equipment.
- Expert-level skills in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve; working knowledge of After Effects for motion graphics/titles is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Final Cut Pro, Capcut or other editing platforms is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of shot composition, framing, lighting setups, and audio capture for varied indoor/outdoor event conditions.
- Sound knowledge of color correction, color grading, and audio mixing/sound design for professional output.
- Understanding of platform-specific video specifications (aspect ratios, durations, resolutions) for Instagram Reels, YouTube, LinkedIn, and other social platforms.
- Working knowledge of file management, video codecs, compression, and export settings for different delivery platforms.
- Basic knowledge of drone videography and editing drone footage is a plus, where applicable.
- Familiarity with backup systems, storage management (external drives/cloud),

and video archiving best practices.

- Engagement metrics on published video content (views, watch time, shares) in coordination with the social media/content team.
- Organization and accessibility of the video database — measured by ease of retrieval and completeness of archived footage.
- Reduction in reshoots or revision cycles due to technical or creative errors.
- Successful and on-time coverage of institutional events with no missed or incomplete shoots.
- Stakeholder satisfaction score from internal departments (Admissions, Placement, Events, Academics, Administration) requesting video support.
