1. Job Purpose
The TGT Science Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering effective Science education to students of Classes VI–X. The role involves developing students' conceptual understanding, scientific temperament, analytical thinking, curiosity and practical knowledge through engaging classroom and laboratory-based learning.
1. Key Responsibilities
Teaching &
- Learning
- Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons in accordance with the prescribed school curriculum and academic plan.
- Teach relevant areas of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and General Science appropriate to the assigned classes.
- Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, worksheets, assignments and learning resources.
- Use activity-based, experiential and technology-enabled teaching methodologies.
- Simplify complex scientific concepts through demonstrations, models, experiments and real-life examples.
Laboratory &
- Practical Activities
- Conduct and supervise Science laboratory experiments and practical activities.
- Ensure students follow laboratory safety procedures and maintain discipline.
- Encourage students to participate in science projects, exhibitions, quizzes and competitions.
- Maintain proper records of practical activities and laboratory-related requirements.
Student Assessment &
- Progress
- Conduct class tests, assignments, projects, periodic assessments and examinations.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate academic records, attendance and student progress reports.
- Identify students requiring additional academic support and provide remedial teaching.
- Encourage high-performing students through enrichment and advanced learning activities.
Classroom Management
- Maintain a positive,
inclusive and disciplined classroom environment.
- Encourage student participation, questioning and independent thinking.
- Address students' academic and behavioural concerns appropriately.
- Promote scientific curiosity, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Parent &
- School Coordination
- Communicate students' academic progress and areas of improvement to parents when required.
- Participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings, staff meetings and academic review meetings.
- Coordinate with other teachers and academic departments for interdisciplinary activities.
- Support school events, assemblies, clubs, exhibitions and other institutional activities.
Professional Responsibilities
- Keep updated with developments in Science education, curriculum and teaching methodologies.
- Make effective use of digital teaching tools, presentations and educational technology.
- Participate in teacher training, workshops and professional development programmes.
- Comply with all school policies, academic procedures and administrative requirements.
- Undertake other academic responsibilities assigned by the Principal or Management.
1. Educational Qualification
Essential:
- Bachelor's Degree in Science such as B.Sc. / equivalent, with relevant Science subjects.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teacher-training qualification from a recognized institution.
Preferred / Desirable:
- M.Sc. in the relevant Science subject.
- CTET/TET qualification, wherever applicable.
- Experience in a CBSE/ICSE or reputed school environment.
- Knowledge of digital teaching tools and educational technology.
Specific eligibility requirements may vary depending on the school's board and recruitment rules. For example, current KVS recruitment rules for TGT Science specify a relevant bachelor's degree subject combination, B.Ed./equivalent requirements, CTET and proficiency in Hindi and English.

- 2–5 years of teaching experience in a reputed school is preferred.
