Looking for a Technical Artist with Unity experience
We’re building a game and are currently in the pre-seed / pre-revenue stage. We’re working on fleshing out our prototype and are looking for a Technical Artist to help us make our greybox combat look and feel good.
What you’ll be doing
Right now, the main focus is taking our greybox combat and adding the visual polish and feedback needed to make it feel good to play.
You’ll work closely with the gameplay/prototyping side to:
- Bring visual polish to our greybox combat
- Create and implement VFX, hit effects, feedback, and other moment-to-moment visual elements
- Help communicate gameplay clearly through visuals
- Work in Unity to bridge the gap between gameplay and art
- Experiment and iterate quickly as the prototype evolves
We’re not looking for someone to simply execute an existing art pipeline. At this stage, there’s plenty of room to experiment, problem-solve, and figure out what works.
Where this can go
As we move toward revenue and production, this role would evolve into a proper Technical Artist position. You would have the opportunity to help establish and bring the game’s art style, VFX, shaders, materials,
and overall visual language to life.
You’d be joining early enough to have a meaningful influence on what the game ultimately looks and feels like.
What we’re looking for
• Strong Unity experience
- Technical Art experience, particularly in games
- Good understanding of real-time VFX, shaders, materials, and rendering
- An eye for visual polish and gameplay readability
- Comfortable working from rough prototypes and turning them into something compelling
- Ability to iterate quickly and work collaboratively with a small team
- A strong sense of what makes combat feel good visually
Bonus
Experience with combat games, stylized visuals, procedural/technical workflows, or Unity’s VFX and Shader tooling.
Applications
Please include a portfolio or reel showcasing your work. Applications with relevant portfolio work will be given preference.
This is an early-stage chance, so we’re looking for someone excited by ambiguity, ownership, and building things from the ground up.
