A Tape Plant Incharge in a woven sack industry manages the daily extrusion, stretching, and winding operations of PP (Polypropylene) and HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) tape lines to produce quality raffia tapes
Job Overview
· Role: Tape Plant Incharge / Extrusion Incharge
· Industry: PP/HDPE Woven Sack, FIBC, and Packaging Manufacturing
· Reporting To: Production Manager / Plant Head
· Core Objective: Maximize tape plant output and machine uptime while maintaining strict tape quality (denier, tenacity, and elongation) and controlling raw material wastage
Key Responsibilities
1. Production & Operations Management
· Execute daily and weekly production plans to meet output targets for circular weaving looms.
· Oversee the operation of tape extrusion lines (such as Lohia, Starlinger, or equivalent tape stretching plants).
· Monitor key process parameters like extruder temperature, line speed, stretch ratio, and denier variation.
· Ensure proper winding and bobbin formation for smooth feeding into downstream circular looms
2. Quality Control (QC)
· Check tape specifications regularly, including denier (weight per unit length), tensile strength, and elongation percentage.
· Minimize tape breakage, split tapes, and thickness discrepancies during the stretching process.
· Coordinate with the laboratory/QC team to quarantine out-of-spec batches and adjust process settings accordingly
3.
Maintenance & Breakdown Handling
· Manage preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for extruders, die heads, godet rollers, and winders.
· Coordinate with the mechanical and electrical maintenance teams to reduce downtime during sudden breakdowns.
· Maintain records of equipment health and consumable spares
. Wastage & Cost Control
· Control and minimize polymer waste, edge trims, and scrap generation during start-up and running operations.
· Optimize power consumption and efficient utilization of masterbatches and additives (UV, calcium carbonate, colorants)
5. Team Leadership & Safety
· Supervise shift operators, helpers, and winders; assign daily duties and conduct on-the-floor training.
· Enforce factory safety protocols, proper housekeeping, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) around hot extrusion areas
Required Qualifications & Skills
· Education: Diploma in Plastics Technology (CIPET), Mechanical Engineering, or Graduation/Relevant technical background.
· Experience: 3 to 8 years of hands-on experience in operating and supervising PP/HDPE tape extrusion lines (Lohia, Starlinger, GCL, etc.) in a woven sack plant
Pay: ₹35,000.00 per month
Perks
