About the Opportunity

YouWin Technologies is looking for a Senior/Staff Software Engineer with strong expertise in C/C++, Linux systems programming, performance engineering, and hardware/software integration to work on next-generation high-performance computing and data-processing solutions.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, databases, distributed systems, and hardware acceleration , developing software that enables demanding data and analytics workloads to efficiently leverage CPUs, GPUs, DPUs, and FPGAs .

You will be responsible for building high-performance software integration layers, optimizing data movement between host systems and accelerators, identifying workloads suitable for hardware offload, and ensuring reliable CPU fallback when acceleration is unavailable or does not provide a performance benefit.

The ideal candidate enjoys working close to the system — from Linux memory management and multithreading to PCIe, DMA, NUMA, data movement, profiling, and accelerator execution — and is motivated by measurable improvements in latency, throughput, and resource utilization.

What You'll Do

High-Performance Software & Systems Integration

- Design and develop high-performance C/C++ software for Linux-based systems.
- Build software integration layers connecting analytics/database workloads with hardware accelerators.
- Develop native extensions, gateway services, IPC mechanisms, and APIs for integrating software workloads with accelerator platforms.
- Work closely with FPGA, distributed-systems, and platform engineers to establish reliable hardware/software interfaces.

Workload Offload & CPU Fallback
- Identify supported workloads and operations that can benefit from hardware acceleration.
- Develop mechanisms to route qualified workloads to accelerator resources.

- Implement robust CPU/software fallback paths for unsupported workloads or situations where hardware acceleration is not beneficial.
- Minimize application-level changes while delivering measurable performance improvements.

High-Performance Data Movement
- Develop efficient data paths between host applications and PCIe-attached accelerators.
- Work with:
- PCIe
- DMA
- Shared and pinned memory
- mmap
- Asynchronous queues
- Batching
- Zero-copy techniques
- Memory pools
- Optimize movement of large datasets between CPU memory, accelerator memory, and processing engines.

Performance Engineering
- Profile and optimize complete end-to-end execution paths.
- Investigate performance across:
- CPU caches
- DRAM
- NUMA
- PCIe
- DMA
- IPC
- Serialization
- Networking
- Synchronization
- Accelerator execution
- Use profiling tools, tracing, hardware counters, benchmarks, and latency analysis to identify bottlenecks.
- Establish measurable improvements in latency, throughput, CPU utilization, and resource efficiency .

Real-Time & Low-Latency Workloads
- Develop optimized solutions for low-latency data-processing workloads.
- Support operations such as recent-data filtering, rolling aggregations, grouped aggregations, and other predefined analytics workloads.
- Design systems capable of achieving millisecond-class latency where required.

Platform & Runtime Integration
- Collaborate with engineering teams working on FPGA and distributed computing infrastructure.
- Contribute to:
- Resource discovery
- Workload scheduling
- Data partitioning
- Runtime integration
- Telemetry
- Hardware/software APIs
- System reliability and observability

Engineering Quality
- Develop automated unit, integration, and performance tests.
- Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
- Maintain Git-based development and CI/CD workflows.
- Create clear technical documentation for APIs, architecture, performance characteristics, and operational behavior.

Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of qualified software engineering experience working with performance-critical systems, databases, runtimes, networking, storage, or hardware acceleration.
- Expert-level C/C++ programming skills.
- Strong Linux systems-programming experience.
- Deep understanding of:
- Memory management
- Multithreading
- IPC
- Shared memory
- mmap
- CPU affinity
- NUMA
- Synchronization
- Linux debugging
- Strong performance-engineering background with experience using profiling, tracing, hardware counters, benchmarking, and latency analysis.

- Ability to reason about data movement across CPU caches, DRAM, PCIe, DMA engines, and accelerator memory .
- Experience integrating native software with at least one of the following:
- Database or analytics engine
- Runtime platform
- Storage system
- Networking stack
- GPU
- FPGA
- DPU
- Other hardware accelerator
- Strong understanding of software architecture and systems-level debugging.
- Experience with automated testing and Git/CI workflows.
- Python or similar scripting experience.
- Strong technical communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with kdb+/q , including:
- q tables and vectors
