Job Summary:

- We are looking for an experienced Sulphuric Acid Shift Incharge to oversee shift operations of a Sulphuric Acid manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate should have 7–9 years of relevant experience with strong hands-on experience in Sulphuric Acid plant operations, including process control, troubleshooting, safety, and shift team management.

Key Responsibilities

- Supervise and manage Sulphuric Acid plant operations during the assigned shift.
- Ensure safe, stable, and efficient operation of the entire plant.
- Monitor and control key process parameters such as temperature, pressure, flow, concentration, acid circulation, and gas conditions.
- Have hands-on knowledge of Sulphur burning, gas generation, gas cleaning, conversion, absorption, and acid circulation systems.
- Monitor plant equipment and process conditions and take corrective action in case of abnormalities.
- Troubleshoot process and equipment-related issues to minimize production interruptions.
- Ensure optimum production, product quality, and process efficiency.
- Coordinate with the maintenance team for breakdowns, preventive maintenance, and equipment-related issues.
- Monitor and manage SO₂/SO₃ and acid handling systems in accordance with plant safety procedures.
- Ensure proper operation of pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, towers, scrubbers, converters, and related equipment.
- Conduct regular shift rounds and identify potential operational or safety issues.
- Ensure compliance with process safety, PPE, SOPs, work permits, and emergency procedures.
- Lead the shift team and allocate manpower according to operational requirements.
- Maintain shift logs, production records, process parameters,



and incident reports.
- Coordinate with the production, maintenance, quality, and EHS teams.
- Ensure housekeeping and 5S standards are maintained within the plant.
- Take immediate action during emergencies such as acid leakage, equipment failure, abnormal process conditions, or other plant incidents.
- Provide inputs for improving plant productivity, energy efficiency, reliability, and process performance.

Required Skills & Experience:/p>

- 7–9 years of total experience, with significant relevant experience in Sulphuric Acid manufacturing/plant operations.
- Hands-on experience in operating a Sulphuric Acid plant is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of the Sulphuric Acid manufacturing process and plant equipment.
- Experience in handling process abnormalities, troubleshooting, and plant start-up/shutdown activities.
- Good knowledge of process safety and acid handling practices.
- Experience in managing shift operators and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Good understanding of SOPs, permit-to-work systems, safety procedures, and emergency response.
- Ability to work effectively in a continuous shift operation workplace. Good communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.

Educational Qualification

- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification. Candidates with relevant hands-on Sulphuric Acid plant experience will be preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- Strong practical exposure to Sulphuric Acid plant operations.
- Capable of independently managing plant operations during a shift.
- Strong focus on safety, production, quality, and operational efficiency.
- Willing to work in rotational shifts as per plant requirements.
- Candidates willing to relocate/work in Kharagpur will be preferred.
