We are entering a pivotal growth phase and seeking a Software Engineering Manager who thrives at the intersection of strategic people leadership and rigorous systems engineering. In this role, you will lead high-performing teams building high-scale, distributed SaaS applications, guiding architecture while cultivating world-class engineering talent.

Key Leadership Dimensions & Impact:

1. Technical Strategy & Architectural Direction

- Serve as the technical authority for your engineering domain, reviewing complex architectural trade-offs, scalability bottlenecks, and data modelling decisions.
- Drive engineering best practices across the full software lifecycle, including CI/CD automation, observability, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and fault-tolerant distributed system designs.
- Champion modern software engineering practices, ensuring high code quality, security compliance, and maintainability.

2. People & Team Leadership

- Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of talented software and platform engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Conduct impactful 1:1s, define personalised growth trajectories, and actively recruit and retain top engineering talent.
- Establish clear engineering KPIs, sprint cadences,



and operational metrics to consistently meet business milestones on time.

3. Cross-Functional Execution & Product Ownership

- Partner closely with Product Management, UX Design, QA, Information Security, and Customer Operations to translate complex product roadmaps into reality.
- Own delivery end-to-end, actively anticipating technical risks, identifying dependencies, and executing proactive mitigation strategies.
- Maintain a culture of innovation, exploring emerging technologies (generative AI, OLAP advancements, real-time analytics) to keep BrightEdge at the competitive cutting edge.

Candidate Profile & Qualifications:

Must-Have Requirements:

- Strong Engineering Foundations: Hands-on background in computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems architecture.
- Proven Management Track Record: Minimum 2-3+ years of formal engineering management experience leading software engineers, with demonstrated success driving team productivity and morale.
- Deep Stack Competence: Proficiency in at least one modern language (Python, Java, C++, or Go) and solid experience with relational (SQL) or analytical (OLAP) database engines.
- Modern Infrastructure Knowledge:



Practical understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or hybrid data centres) and modern DevOps practices (Docker, K8s, CI/CD).
- Delivery Ownership: Demonstrated history of shepherding ambiguous, complex technical initiatives from whiteboard architecture all the way through to zero-downtime production deployments.

Bonus/Plus Experience:

- Experience scaling large-scale distributed data pipelines, Big Data processing, or streaming architectures (Kafka, Spark, ClickHouse, Snowflake, Redshift).
- Background running structured employee engagement initiatives and rigorous design review evaluation programs.
