About Sefer

Every product that crosses a US border has to be classified, documented, and filed correctly, and most of that work still happens by hand in PDFs, spreadsheets, and decades-old software. Sefer is building AI that does it instead. We help customs brokers and importers classify goods, prepare entries, and stay ahead of regulatory changes, with a classification engine that outperforms frontier models on full 10-digit accuracy.

What you'll do

- Build pipelines that extract structured data from messy real-world documents: invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and government forms
- Work on systems that monitor regulatory sources and turn changes into signals our customers can act on
- Ship features end to end, from prototype to production
- Work directly with the founders and see your work used by real customers

Who you are

- A college student who wants real ownership, not busywork




- Strong at writing code and getting things done with minimal hand-holding
- Experienced with data extraction (OCR, document parsing, LLM-based extraction, or similar)
- Comfortable in TypeScript and building with LLMs (OpenAI, Claude, and the like)
- Based in India and able to put in roughly 20+ hours a week. We care about outcomes, not hours logged, so your schedule is yours

- Exposure to trade compliance, customs, or logistics
- Projects involving compliance, regulatory data, or other signal detection
