About the Role
Most "Social Media Manager" JDs describe someone who manages a page. This one's different: we're hiring someone who ideates, builds, scripts, shoots, hosts, analysis and grows it.
You'll own everything from the monthly content calendar to the camera-facing series that becomes appointment viewing, ideating, writing, shooting, presenting, and analyzing the results yourself, in-house.
If you've grown a real page or channel from scratch, this is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy, Pillars & Calendar Ownership
- Define and maintain content pillars (education/insight driven, aspirational/new gen, product/proof, culture/BTS, community/UGC, trends); every post maps to one.
- Own the monthly calendar across Instagram (expanding to YouTube/LinkedIn), balanced across pillars, formats, and funnel stages.
- Build recurring IPs and segments within each pillar so the calendar compounds instead of resetting monthly.
- Own copy end-to-end: captions, campaign copy, scripts, and social ad films. You ideate and execute it all, not just the on-camera pieces.
- Experiment with new formats and hooks; double down on winners, retire what doesn't work.
- Keep a constant eye on emerging trends, formats, sounds, and content styles across Instagram and YouTube, and bring the right ones into the calendar before they peak.
- Coordinate in-house shoots with the team and track platform/category trends to adapt into our voice.
Be the Face: On-Camera & Production
- Be the primary on-camera presence for educational and brand content: confident, camera-ready, quick on your feet.
- Build repeatable, recognizable IPs that audiences come back for, not isolated videos.
- Turn nutrition and product education into content people actually want to watch, without dumbing it down.
- Shoot in-house and on location with the team, hands-on from pre-production through edit direction.
Data, Analytics & Competitive Intelligence
- Track engagement, follower growth, retention, and format performance monthly at the pillar and IP level.
- Publish a monthly report: what's winning, what to retire, what to test next.
- Run a monthly competitor analysis and benchmarking against comparable D2C/wellness/nutrition brands (follower growth, engagement rate, content pillars, formats) and feed findings straight into the calendar.
Ownership, Budget & Stakeholder Management
- Set social media KPIs/OKRs tied to business goals and report progress to leadership monthly.
- Own the content production budget (shoots, freelance support, tools) and brief/manage in house editors, designers & copywriters as and when needed.
- Be the single point of accountability for brand voice and tone consistency across every post.
- Handle audience sentiment and reputation professionally, including negative comments or a PR moment, proactively addressing direct messages,
comments, queries etc.
What We're Looking For
Experience
- 3–5 years building and growing a real Instagram/YouTube page or channel, with numbers to show for it.
- Proven end-to-end ownership: you've ideated concepts, executed them end to end and seen them perform.
- Genuinely enjoys being on camera, not just tolerates it.
- Comfortable owning the function solo, end-to-end, with minimal oversight. This is a lead role, not a support seat.
Skills
- A strong strategist and copywriter first: owns everything from captions and campaign copy to scripts and social ad films, ideating and executing it all.
- Can build a content pillar framework and structure a calendar around it.
- Proactively running competitor and category research and turning it into calendar decisions, repeatedly.
- Fluent reading analytics dashboards and translating numbers into monthly priorities.
- Working knowledge of shooting and editing: understands pacing, framing, what makes a cut work.
- Genuine eye on trends, the latest platform features, and content styles, and quick to pick up new tools (editing, scheduling, analytics, AI) rather than sticking to one workflow.
- Confident presenting strategy and results to founders/leadership, and briefing or directing support (editors, freelancers, junior creators).
Personality
- Out-of-the-box thinker with a natural knack for storytelling.
- Quirky, funny, and has an interesting personality that comes through on screen: basically main-character energy, not corporate-spokesperson energy.
- Extremely online: If your screen time is high and you know what's trending across the category, formats, news, insights, sounds, & tools before it peaks, you’d be a great fit.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in D2C, health/nutrition, FMCG, or wellness brands.
- Basic design skills (Canva/CapCut/Premiere/Figma) for storyboarding or rough cuts.
- Comfort with AI tools for scripting, ideation, or production support.
Immediate joiners or candidates serving their notice period are preferred.
