Hiring: Senior Farm Technician – Shrimp Farming

Qualification: BFSc / MFSc / MSc Coastal Aquaculture

Experience: Minimum 3 years in shrimp farming

Key Responsibilities

Farm Operations

- Supervise daily shrimp farming and pond management activities.
- Coordinate pond preparation, stocking, water exchange, harvesting and other farm activities.
- Ensure proper feeding practices, including check-tray monitoring and feed adjustment.
- Supervise farm workers and ensure assigned tasks are carried out properly.
- Ensure compliance with farm biosecurity, hygiene and safety procedures.

Farm & Pond Analysis
- Conduct regular sampling to record average body weight (ABW), average daily growth (ADG) and size distribution for each pond.
- Estimate pond-wise biomass, survival rate and feed conversion ratio (FCR), and adjust feeding plans to match.
- Monitor water quality parameters: pH, salinity, dissolved oxygen, temperature, alkalinity, hardness, ammonia, nitrite, H₂S and transparency.
- Monitor plankton and algal bloom conditions, and carry out or coordinate Vibrio counts and other microbial tests.
- Analyse pond soil (pH, organic matter, black soil) during preparation and through the crop cycle.
- Track parameter trends, compare performance across ponds,



and flag deviations early with corrective recommendations.
- Prepare end-of-crop analysis covering yield, survival, FCR, input use and cost per kg of production.

Health Management

- Identify signs of disease, stress or abnormal shrimp behaviour, and report them promptly to the Farm Manager.
- Coordinate with labs and technical teams on disease diagnosis and treatment protocols.

Records & Reporting
- Maintain daily records of feed, water quality, stock, production and farm activities.
- Report systematically and regularly to the Farm Manager and Management.
- Coordinate with technical and management teams on farm performance and operational requirements.

Requirements

- Solid practical knowledge of shrimp farming and pond management.
- Hands-on experience with water quality testing kits, sampling and basic lab analysis.
- Ability to interpret farm data and turn it into actionable recommendations.
- Proficiency in MS Excel (data entry, basic formulas, charts) and MS Word.
- Good communication and team supervision skills.
- Willingness to live on site and work flexible hours, including emergencies.

Pay: From ₹25,000.00 per month
