Job Purpose
Own and manage procurement, inventory, vendor partnerships, and logistics operations for the assigned scope, ensuring cost-effective, timely, and compliant supply of vehicle spares, medical consumables, and equipment to support GVK EMRI's multi-state ambulance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning & Forecasting: Prepare demand forecasts and procurement plans in coordination with Operations; set inventory norms (min-max, safety stock) and drive implementation.
- Procurement & Vendor Management: Lead sourcing, tendering, negotiations, and rate contracts; develop and manage supplier relationships; ensure quality, timely delivery, and contractual compliance.
- Cost Savings Initiatives: Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities through vendor consolidation, alternate sourcing, and renegotiation; track and report validated savings.
- Inventory & Warehouse Management: Ensure optimal stock levels, minimize stock-outs and excess/obsolete inventory, drive inventory accuracy through regular audits, and review inventory turnover.
- Logistics & Distribution: Manage transporter contracts and distribution network; optimize routes, freight costs, and delivery lead times across locations.
- Supplier Performance Management: Conduct periodic supplier reviews using scorecards (OTD, quality, price, responsiveness); drive corrective action and supplier development.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Operations, Fleet, Finance, and Quality teams to meet service level requirements; present performance reports to senior leadership.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and review the performance of Deputy Managers, executives, and store teams.
- Compliance & Risk: Ensure statutory and policy compliance,
audit readiness, and mitigation of supply risks to maintain business continuity.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Candidates must have hands-on, demonstrable experience in the following KPI areas within an automobile industry setting:
- Inventory Accuracy & Turnover: Accountable for stock accuracy and turnover improvement in the assigned scope.
- Procurement Cost Savings: Deliver and document year-on-year procurement savings.
- On-Time Delivery & Supplier Performance: Drive supplier OTD and quality through scorecards and reviews.
- Stock-Out Incidents: Minimize stock-out incidents of critical spares and consumables.
- Logistics Cost Efficiency: Reduce logistics cost per unit / per movement through route and transporter optimization.
- Service Level Achievement: Achieve agreed material availability service levels for Operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical / Automobile / Industrial / Production), Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration.
- MBA/PGDM in Operations, Supply Chain, or Logistics preferred.
- Certifications such as APICS, CSCP, CPSM, or Lean Six Sigma will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 7 – 11 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management, with at least 2 – 3 years in a managerial role.
- Mandatory: experience in the Automobile industry (OEM, Tier-1/Tier-2 supplier, auto components, or automobile dealership / service network).
- Experience in team management and multi-location operations preferred.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP / Oracle / similar) and data analysis.
