? We're Hiring: Robotics Engineer (Motion Control)
?Location: Hubli, Karnataka
Experience: 2+ years
Domain: Motion Control | Embedded Firmware | Actuators and Sensors
❗Freshers are not eligible.
❗Candidates must be willing to relocate.
About this role
You will own the motion system of a two-axis, remotely operated, stabilised platform for defence use. That covers the software (control loops and real-time firmware) and the hardware (motors, drives, sensors, harnessing) that keep a payload pointed precisely at a target.
You need working depth in both software and hardware. Core mechanical design is handled by a separate Mechanical Design Engineer.
This is not a ROS demo or simulation-only role. Your code will drive real motors on hardware that goes to field trials.
What you'll be doing
Software
Design position, velocity and current control loops and IMU-based stabilisation
Write real-time control firmware in C/C++ on microcontrollers (STM32 or similar)
Implement operator control modes, travel limits and safety interlocks
Take low-latency tracking commands from the vision software and close the loop on them
Hardware
Size and select motors, gearboxes, encoders and brakes against torque, speed, accuracy and weight budgets
Integrate and commission BLDC/PMSM motor drives, IMU and feedback sensors on a two-axis platform
Define wiring harnesses, connectors and power distribution for a battery-powered system
Build test rigs and measure backlash, friction, pointing accuracy and repeatability.
System
Tune the complete system on real hardware for pointing accuracy and smooth tracking
Support environmental,
EMI/EMC and field trials, analyse the logs and fix what they find
Mandatory skills and experience
2+ years of hands-on work on robotic or electromechanical products (robotics, gimbals, drones, automation, EV or defence), covering both firmware and hardware
Software
Embedded C/C++ on microcontrollers, with an RTOS or bare metal
Control fundamentals: PID, cascaded loops, feedforward, and BLDC/PMSM control including FOC
IMUs, encoders and sensor fusion (complementary or Kalman filters)
MATLAB/Simulink or Python for modelling, tuning and test scripts
Hardware
Actuator sizing and selection: BLDC or servo motors, gearboxes, encoders or resolvers
Motor drivers and interfaces: CAN, RS-422/485, SPI, UART
Able to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
Comfortable with oscilloscopes, power supplies and data loggers
Good to have
Experience with gimbals, pan-tilt units, antenna positioners, drone flight controllers or robotic arms
Working knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks or similar)
Exposure to ROS 2, MIL-grade harnessing, JSS 55555 or MIL-STD-810
Why join us
Work on real defence hardware that goes to field trials, not demos or PoCs
Own a complete subsystem from design to deployment
Work in a small team directly with mechanical, electronics and software engineers
