A civil quality control (QC) engineer inspects and tests materials and site work to ensure a construction project meets approved design drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
Core Responsibilities
Site Inspections: Conduct routine checks on active work, including formwork, reinforcement, concrete pouring, and finishing.
Material Testing: Supervise and verify tests on raw materials like soil compaction, asphalt, and concrete (such as cube and slump tests) to check for strength and durability.
Request for Inspection (RFI): Coordinate with site teams for timely milestone inspections before moving to the next phase of work.
Non-Conformance Reports (NCR): Identify, document, and track defective work or deviations from plans, and guide teams on corrective actions.
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain daily quality reports, check Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), and log test results.
Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to structural codes like ASTM, ACI, or local building standards.
