Quality Assurance (QA) Manager in a fish processing plant to ensure that seafood products meet domestic and international safety, quality, and regulatory standards, with a heavy emphasis on export compliance and foreign authority inspections (such as US FDA, EU regulations, BRCGS, and ISO 22000)
Food Safety Systems Management: Design, implement, and maintain HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), SSOP (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures), and GMP (Positive Manufacturing Practices) programs.
Foreign Audit & Regulatory Compliance: Lead and host inspections from international regulatory bodies and client audit teams (e.g., EU Export approvals, US FDA inspections, BRCGS, GlobalG.A.P., or ASC/MSC chain of custody audits
Process & Plant Inspection: Monitor ice and water quality, raw material reception, temperature controls (cold chain integrity), processing lines, freezing, and packaging on the factory floor.
Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA): Investigate customer complaints, test rejections, or audit non-conformances, and execute root-cause analysis with immediate corrective measures.
Laboratory & Testing Oversight: Manage micro-biological and chemical testing (e.g., antibiotic residues, heavy metals, histamine, Salmonella, Vibrio) via internal or accredited third-party labs.
Traceability & Documentation: Maintain complete lot traceability from vessel/aquaculture farm to final export container,
ensuring readiness for rapid product recalls or mock-recalls
Special Focus: Knowledge in Foreign AuditsWhen specializing in foreign audits (crucial for export-oriented fish processing plants in hubs like Kerala/India shipping to the EU, USA, Japan, or the Middle East), the QA Manager must handle:
- Pre-Audit Readiness: Conducting internal gap-analysis audits simulating strict foreign standards.
- Dossier & Record Verification: Ensuring health certificates, catch certificates, lab analysis reports, and chemical residue test trails match destination-country laws (e.g., EIC/MPEDA guidelines in India coupled with EU/USNT requirements).
- Direct Liaison: Acting as the primary technical point of contact during foreign delegations, inspectors, or third-party certification bodies.
- Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Aquaculture, Fishery Science, or Chemistry.
- Experience: 5 to 10 years in food/seafood manufacturing, with at least 2–3 years in a managerial or lead compliance role.
Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
