Asst / Deputy Manager - Purchase (Plastic Commodities)

Role Summery To drive strategic sourcing and procurement of Injection Moulded, Insert Injection moulded, Over-moulded, Blow moulded, and Composite Components for automotive applications. The role is an Individual Contributor position responsible for supplier development, should-costing and zero-based costing, commercial negotiations, contract management, localization, and ensuring best-in-class cost, quality, delivery, and technology competitiveness. The incumbent should possess strong understanding of plastics processing technologies, tooling economics, polymer materials, and automotive supplier ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop sourcing strategies and manage RFQ, supplier selection, and onboarding.
- Handle procurement of Injection Molded, Insert Molded, Over-Molded, Blow Molded, and Composite Components.
- Perform Should Costing, Zero-Based Costing (ZBC), and cost optimization projects.
- Lead commercial negotiations, tooling investments, annual cost reduction, and localization initiatives.
- Manage supplier contracts, performance, capacity planning, and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and Operations teams.
- Drive supplier development, audits,



and continuous improvement programs.
- Monitor market trends in polymers, composites, tooling, and resin pricing.

Technical Expertise Required

- Strong knowledge of Injection Molding, Insert Molding, Over-Molding, Blow Molding, and Composite Manufacturing.
- Expertise in engineering plastics such as PP, ABS, PC, PA66, PBT, POM, HDPE, TPE, and reinforced materials.
- Solid understanding of:
- Should Costing & Zero-Based Costing
- Tool Cost Analysis
- Cycle Time & Yield Calculations
- Cost Benchmarking & Productivity Analysis

- Experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management, supplier development, and contract negotiation.

Preferred Qualifications

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Plastics, Polymer, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
- MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations (preferred).

Preferred Commodity Exposure

Automotive interior/exterior plastic parts, dashboards, door trims, electrical connectors, sensor housings, EV plastic components, fluid reservoirs, air intake systems, and composite structural parts.
