Role & responsibilities

Job Summary The Project Manager Hostel Construction will be responsible for planning, executing, and supervising the construction of the college hostel within the approved budget, timeline, and quality standards. The role involves coordination with architects, contractors, consultants, and college management to ensure successful completion of the project and compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning and Design Coordination

- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and consultants for finalization of hostel design and layout.
- Prepare project plans, timelines, and milestones for construction activities.
- Review drawings, specifications, and construction schedules.

2. Construction Management

- Supervise day-to-day construction activities at the project site.
- Ensure construction work follows approved drawings, technical specifications, and quality standards.
- Monitor progress and ensure completion within agreed timelines.

3. Contractor and Vendor Management

- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
- Facilitate procurement of construction materials and services.

4. Budget and Cost Control

- Prepare and monitor the project budget.
- Track expenditures and control project costs.
- Review contractor bills and certify payments as per work completed.

5. Quality Assurance

- Ensure the use of quality materials and adherence to construction standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and quality checks.




- Coordinate with quality and technical consultants.

6. Compliance and Regulatory Approvals

- Ensure compliance with local building regulations, safety standards, and environmental norms.
- Coordinate for approvals from relevant authorities where required.

7. Reporting and Documentation

- Provide regular progress reports to the college management.
- Maintain project documentation including drawings, approvals, contracts, and reports.
- Highlight risks or delays and propose corrective actions.

8. Safety Management

- Ensure safety protocols are followed at the construction site.
- Monitor compliance with labor and workplace safety regulations.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management / Project Management.
- Master’s degree in a related field (preferred but not mandatory).

Experience
- 5–10 years of experience in building construction projects.
- Experience managing institutional, residential, or hostel construction projects will be preferred.
