Job Summary The Pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medications, ensuring compliance with medical prescriptions, maintaining pharmacy inventory, and providing medication-related guidance to patients and healthcare professionals. The role requires solid attention to detail, regulatory compliance, and a commitment to patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Review prescriptions for accuracy and completeness before dispensing medicines.
- Dispense prescribed medications in accordance with physician instructions and established pharmacy protocols.
- Educate patients regarding the dosage, administration, storage, precautions, and potential side effects of medications.
- Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations, hospital policies, and statutory requirements.
- Monitor medication stocks and maintain adequate inventory levels.
- Coordinate with procurement teams for ordering and replenishment of medicines and consumables.
- Maintain accurate records of medication dispensing and inventory transactions.
- Verify the expiry dates of medicines and ensure proper disposal of expired or damaged stock.
- Support clinical teams in medication management and drug information queries.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of medicines, including temperature-sensitive products.
- Participate in periodic audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational efficiency within the pharmacy.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm).
- B.Sc graduates with relevant experience in pharmacy operations may also be considered, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.
- Registered Pharmacist with the State Pharmacy Council.
- Valid Pharmacy Registration Certificate.
Experience
- 0-2 years of experience in hospital pharmacy, retail pharmacy, or healthcare pharmacy operations.
- Freshers with relevant qualifications and registration may apply.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical products and medication safety.
- Understanding of pharmacy regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
- Inventory management and stock control skills.
- Good communication and patient counseling abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in dispensing medications.
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with hospital management systems.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays if required.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in hospital pharmacy operations.
- Knowledge of NABH standards and healthcare quality practices.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management software.
