Role Description This is a full time, on-site Optometrist role based at Rohit Eye Hospital in Indore. The Optometrist will perform detailed eye examinations, including refraction and binocular vision assessment, and prescribe appropriate spectacles or contact lenses. The role includes conducting pre- and post-operative evaluations, assisting ophthalmologists in diagnostic decision-making, and using advanced equipment for tests such as tonometry, keratometry, and visual field analysis.
The Optometrist will educate patients about eye conditions, treatment plans, and preventive eye care, and maintain accurate, timely clinical records.
Additional responsibilities may include supporting community outreach programs, coordinating with counselors and other clinical staff, and adhering to hospital protocols for safety, hygiene, and quality assurance.
Qualifications
- Formal optometry education (Bachelor’s or Diploma in Optometry) from a recognized institution; valid registration or eligibility for local professional registration.
- Strong clinical skills in refraction, contact lens fitting, binocular vision assessment, and basic low-vision evaluation.
- Proficiency in operating ophthalmic diagnostic equipment (e.g., slit lamp, autorefractometer, keratometer, tonometer, and visual field analyzers).
- Ability to conduct pre- and post-operative assessments and collaborate effectively with ophthalmologists and surgical teams.
- Clear, compassionate patient communication skills and the ability to explain diagnoses, prescriptions, and treatment plans in understandable language.
- Attention to detail in documentation, adherence to clinical protocols, and commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and ethics.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced hospital environment, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple patients and tasks efficiently.
- Prior experience in a hospital or specialized eye care setting is preferred; familiarity with NABH standards and quality processes is an advantage.
