This role works in close coordination with architects, structural engineers, cost estimation teams, and site execution professionals to ensure compliant, cost-effective, clash-free, and code-aligned installations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties1. System Design & Engineering Calculations

- Perform heat load calculations (using software like HAP or manual ASHRAE standards) to size HVAC systems (VRF/VRV, Chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ductwork, and hydronic piping).
- Design electrical systems, including connected load estimation, single-line diagrams (SLDs), transformer/DG sizing, cable tray routing, fault level analysis, panel schedules, and lighting/lux level calculations (Dialux).
- Plan public health engineering (PHE) and plumbing layouts, including domestic water demand estimation, hot/cold water supply, drainage (soil, waste, and vent), STP/WTP sizing, and rainwater harvesting.
- Design Fire Protection and Life Safety systems, including wet sprinkler layouts, standpipes, fire hydrant networks, smoke management systems, and fire alarm notification/detection networks.

1. Technical Drawings, BIM & Modeling

- Develop detailed Schematics, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Concept layouts, and Tender-level engineering packages using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
- Coordinate cross-discipline services to identify and resolve spatial clashes within BIM (Navisworks)

before issuing for construction (IFC).
- Review and approve contractor shop drawings, material submittals, and technical query requests (RFIs).

1. BOQ, Specifications & Vendor Evaluation

- Prepare comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQ), technical equipment specifications, and design basis reports (DBR).
- Conduct technical evaluation of vendor quotations and manufacturer data sheets for major equipment (chillers, switchgear, pumps, cooling towers, cables, panels).
- Assist cost management and procurement teams with material scheduling and value engineering recommendations.

1. Compliance, Codes & Approvals

- Ensure all designs strictly adhere to relevant statutory codes, standards, and safety bylaws (e.g., NBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, IS Codes, NEC/IEC, IPC/UPC).
- Support documentation required for statutory local authority approvals (Fire NOC, municipal drainage/water boards, electrical inspectorate).
- Incorporate green building design parameters for energy efficiency (IGBC, LEED, or ECBC compliance).

1. Interdisciplinary Coordination & Field Support

- Coordinate space requirements, shaft openings, structural slab cut-outs, and ceiling voids with architects and structural engineers.

- Conduct periodic site visits to inspect ongoing installations, ensure adherence to approved design drawings, and review Testing & Commissioning (T&C;) procedures.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Tech / B.E. / B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Building Services Engineering.
- Experience: 3 to 7 years in MEP design consultancy, design-and-build EPC contracting, or technical project management.
- Software Proficiency:
- Drafting & BIM: AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage.
- Mechanical/HVAC: Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, McQuay Duct/Pipe Sizer.
- Electrical: DIALux / DIALux evo, ETAP (preferred), Cable Sizing modules.
- Plumbing/Hydraulics: WaterCAD / Pipe Flow Expert (preferred).
- General: MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel for calculations).

Core Competencies & Skills Competency Area Essential Skills Technical Core Psychrometrics, duct/pipe design, electrical power distribution, pump sizing, sprinkler grid layout. Standards & Codes In-depth working knowledge of NBC, NFPA (13, 14, 20, 72), ASHRAE (55, 62.1, 90.1), and local municipal bylaws. Coordination Clash detection, composite MEP coordinated service drawings (CSD), builders work drawings.
