About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer who can take a requirement from concept to a working, manufacturable design. You'll work on new product development and drive ongoing design improvements across the ECOBOT range, collaborating closely with our fabrication, assembly, and sales teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design hydraulic systems for material-handling and machine applications
- Perform design calculations including cylinder sizing, force calculations, and power pack pressure and flow requirements
- Select hydraulic components such as cylinders, pumps, motors, valves, filters, hoses, and fittings
- Prepare hydraulic circuit diagrams and specify power packs
- Design material-handling equipment and mechanisms, including drive selection and capacity calculations
- Develop 3D models, assemblies, and detailed 2D fabrication drawings in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Prepare BOMs and coordinate with vendors for component selection, quotes, and sourcing
- Work with the fabrication shop to ensure designs are practical to build, and resolve issues during manufacturing
- Assist in commissioning and testing of hydraulic systems and other new designs, both in-house and at client sites when required
- Identify and implement improvements in existing machines for performance, reliability, safety, serviceability, and cost
- Maintain proper design documentation, revision control, and technical records
Requirements
- BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma holders with strong relevant experience may also apply)
- 3–6 years of experience in machine design, preferably in hydraulics, material handling, or industrial equipment
- Strong SolidWorks and AutoCAD skill
- Robust knowledge of hydraulic cylinders and their applications
- Good understanding of hydraulic power packs and hydraulic circuits
- Good knowledge of hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, filters, hoses, and fittings
- Hands-on experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Understanding of sheet metal and structural fabrication, welding, and machining processes
- Working knowledge of GD&T;, tolerances, and material selection
- Ability to translate customer or internal requirements into a complete design independently
Valuable to Have
- Experience designing material-handling equipment such as conveyors or lifting mechanisms
- Familiarity with gear motors, bearings, and power transmission selection
- Basic rendering knowledge
- Basic understanding of electrical controls, motor starters, or PLC interfacing
- Exposure to stainless steel fabrication or waste management / food processing equipment
What We Offer
- Opportunity to own product development end-to-end on machines installed worldwide
- Direct involvement from design through fabrication, testing, and commissioning
- A small, quick-moving team where your work gets built and shipped
