- ROLE PURPOSE The Head – Accounts & Finance will be responsible for the complete accounts, finance, taxation, statutory compliance, banking, MIS and financial control functions of M.B. Ashtekar Jewellers Pvt. Ltd.
The position requires an individual who can take end-to-end ownership of the finance function, maintain accurate and timely books of accounts, ensure statutory compliance, manage banking operations, provide reliable MIS to management and establish strong financial controls.
This is a high-trust and high-responsibility position involving confidential financial information, banking transactions, taxation, vendor/customer accounts and company financial records.

Most Important Selection Criteria:
Integrity and trustworthiness will be the highest priority. A technically strong candidate who cannot demonstrate reliability, stability and integrity should not be preferred over a slightly less experienced but highly trustworthy candidate.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Accounting & Bookkeeping The candidate will have overall responsibility for the company's accounting function.
Responsibilities include
- Supervise day-to-day accounting operations.
- Review purchase, sales, receipt, payment and journal entries.
- Ensure proper ledger maintenance.
- Review debtors and creditors.
- Monitor outstanding balances.
- Conduct regular ledger scrutiny.
- Ensure proper accounting of expenses, income and provisions.
- Review accounting entries posted by the accounts team.
- Supervise monthly and year-end closing.
- Coordinate finalisation of accounts.
- Prepare / coordinate preparation of Profit & Loss Account and Balance Sheet.
- Ensure books are accurate, complete and audit-ready.
- Ensure proper documentation and supporting records for accounting entries.
B. Banking & Treasury The candidate must be well versed with practical banking operations and capable of independently handling and coordinating the company's banking requirements.
Responsibilities include
- Managing and monitoring all company bank accounts.
- Regular bank reconciliation.
- Reviewing bank statements and transactions.
- NEFT / RTGS / IMPS transactions.
- Cheque preparation, issuance and deposits.
- Vendor payment processing.
- Customer receipt reconciliation.
- Monitoring credit/debit card and payment gateway settlements.
- Monitoring bank charges and interest.
- Coordination with bank relationship managers.
- Bank KYC and documentation.
- Bank confirmations and balance confirmations.
- Handling bank queries and discrepancies.
- Following up on failed, disputed or incorrect transactions.
- Handling payment reversals / payment recalls where required.
- Monitoring CC / OD / loan accounts, wherever applicable.
- Maintaining proper documentation for all banking transactions.
- Ensuring appropriate authorisation before payments are released.
Banking Controls The Head – Accounts & Finance must ensure:
- No unauthorised or unsupported payment is processed.
- Vendor bank-detail changes are independently verified.
- Payment approvals are properly documented.
- Bank reconciliations are completed regularly.
- Unusual or suspicious transactions are immediately escalated to management.
4. TAXATION The candidate should have strong practical knowledge of taxation and be responsible for ensuring timely compliance.

STATUTORY COMPLIANCE The candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely compliance relating to:
- GST
- TDS
- PF
- ESIC
- Professional Tax
- Income Tax
- Other applicable statutory requirements
The candidate must maintain a statutory compliance calendar and ensure that all payments, returns and filings are completed within the prescribed timelines.
The objective is to ensure zero avoidable penalties, interest or compliance defaults.
- JEWELLERY BUSINESS ACCOUNTING
Experience in the jewellery industry will be strongly preferred.
The candidate should understand, or be capable of quickly understanding:
- Gold purchase accounting
- Jewellery purchase accounting

- Gold and silver stock accounting

- STOCK & FINANCIAL RECONCILIATION
Given the nature of the jewellery business, strong reconciliation and financial control is critical.
The Head – Accounts & Finance will coordinate with the Purchase and Operations teams to ensure:
- Physical stock and ERP stock are reconciled.
- Purchase records match supplier invoices and ERP entries.
- Sales records match accounting records.
- Exchange transactions are properly accounted for.
- Customer advances are properly reconciled.
- Vendor balances are regularly reconciled.
- Store-wise financial data is accurate.
- Any discrepancy is immediately identified and escalated.
8. MIS & MANAGEMENT REPORTING The candidate will be responsible for preparing / supervising regular management reports covering:
- Daily / weekly / monthly sales
- Store-wise sales
- Store-wise profitability
- Gross profit / gross margin
- Purchase analysis
- Outstanding receivables
- Outstanding payables
- Cash and bank position
- Customer advances
- Vendor advances
- Stock value
- Working capital position

Reports must be accurate, timely and useful for management decision-making.
- AUDIT & PROFESSIONAL COORDINATION The candidate will coordinate with:

10. INTERNAL CONTROLS & FINANCIAL DISCIPLINE The Head – Accounts & Finance will play a key role in strengthening the company's financial controls.
Responsibilities include
- Reviewing unusual accounting entries.
- Monitoring backdated entries.
- Identifying unusual ledger movements.
- Reviewing payment processes.
- Ensuring proper supporting documents.
- Monitoring vendor master and bank-detail changes.
- Ensuring appropriate segregation of duties.
- Reviewing bank reconciliations.
- Monitoring outstanding balances.
- Identifying financial irregularities.
- Escalating suspected fraud or discrepancies immediately.
- Maintaining confidentiality of company financial information.
The candidate should have a strong control mindset and should not hesitate to raise an issue with management when something appears financially incorrect or irregular.
- TEAM MANAGEMENT The Head – Accounts & Finance will lead and supervise the accounts team.
Responsibilities include
- Allocating responsibilities to team members.

12. SOFTWARE & SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Mandatory:
- Tally Prime – Strong practical knowledge
- MS Excel – Strong practical knowledge
- Accounting and MIS systems
The candidate should be comfortable working with large volumes of financial data and performing reconciliations using Excel.
Added Advantage – ACME Padm
Prior experience with ACME Padm ERP/software will be an added advantage.
Preference may be given to candidates who have experience with:
- Jewellery ERP systems
- Purchase and sales modules
- Stock management
- Customer accounts
- Jewellery inventory reporting
- Store-wise reporting
- ERP-to-Tally reconciliation
The candidate should ideally be able to understand and reconcile information between ACME Padm, Tally, bank records and physical/business records.
- QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
Education – Preferred:
- B.Com / M.Com
- CA Inter / CA – Added Advantage
- Relevant accounting / taxation qualifications
Experience – Preferred:
7–12 years of relevant experience, including experience in a senior accounting or supervisory position.
Candidates with experience in the following will be preferred:

16. INTERVIEW & PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT
Candidates should be assessed through practical tests rather than only a verbal interview.
Accounting Test
Give the candidate sample transactions and ask them to:
- Pass appropriate entries.
- Identify incorrect accounting.
- Reconcile ledgers.
- Prepare a basic bank reconciliation.
GST / Tax Test
Test the candidate on practical GST and TDS situations relevant to a retail/trading business.
Banking Test
Give a sample bank statement and accounting ledger and ask the candidate to identify:
- Unreconciled transactions.
- Bank charges.
- Incorrect entries.
- Missing transactions.
- Other discrepancies.
MIS Test
Provide basic sales, purchase and expense data and ask the candidate to prepare a simple management report.
Problem-Solving Test
Give a scenario involving a vendor payment, incorrect bank account or financial discrepancy and assess:

18. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary: ₹25,000 – ₹41,700 per month
Annual CTC: ₹3,00,000 – ₹5,00,000 per annum
Salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience, technical capability, current compensation and suitability for the role.
Candidates with strong experience in jewellery accounting, banking, taxation, GST, statutory compliance and team management may be considered at the higher end of the range.
Candidates with prior ACME Padm experience may receive preference during the selection process.
Salary revision will be linked to performance and achievement of agreed KRAs.
