Lathe Operator / Turner – Tool Room

Department: Tool Room / Manufacturing

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Lathe Operator / Turner to work in our Tool Room and Machine Manufacturing facility. The candidate will be responsible for operating conventional lathe machines and manufacturing precision components as per engineering drawings, dimensions and specifications.

The role will involve machining components for PET stretch blowing machines, injection moulds, blow moulds, machine assemblies, jigs, fixtures and other precision engineering applications.

The ideal candidate should have solid hands-on machining skills, good knowledge of conventional lathe operations, the ability to read engineering drawings, and the ability to accurately measure finished components.

Key ResponsibilitiesLathe Machine Operations

- Operate conventional / manual lathe machines for precision component manufacturing.
- Perform turning, facing, boring, drilling, threading, grooving, chamfering, taper turning and parting operations.
- Set and align jobs accurately using chucks, centres, fixtures and other work-holding arrangements.
- Select appropriate cutting tools and set suitable RPM, feed and depth of cut.
- Carry out machining according to drawings and job requirements.

Tool Room & Precision Machining
- Manufacture components such as shafts, bushes, pins, collars, sleeves, spacers, threaded components and other machine/tool-room parts.
- Work on components used in moulds, machines, fixtures and tooling.
- Maintain required dimensional accuracy and surface finish.




- Handle close-tolerance machining wherever required.
- Work closely with the Tool Room and Design teams on new components and modifications.

Drawing & Measurement
- Read and understand mechanical/engineering drawings.
- Understand dimensions, tolerances, fits and surface-finish requirements.
- Measure components using Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges and other measuring instruments.
- Perform in-process and final dimensional inspection.
- Immediately report dimensional or machining problems to the supervisor/quality team.

Quality & Production
- Ensure all components are produced as per drawing specifications and required quality.
- Minimize rejection, rework and material wastage.
- Complete assigned jobs within the planned production schedule.
- Maintain job-wise production and inspection records where required.
- Coordinate with Quality, Tool Room and Production teams to resolve machining issues.

Machine & Workplace Maintenance
- Maintain the lathe machine in good working condition.
- Carry out routine cleaning, lubrication and basic maintenance.
- Monitor machine condition and report abnormal noise, vibration, wear or other problems.
- Maintain cutting tools, holders and accessories properly.
- Keep the work area clean and organized according to 5S and safety requirements.

Required Skills




- Strong hands-on experience in conventional lathe operation.
- Good knowledge of turning, facing, boring, drilling and threading.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings.
- Good understanding of dimensions, tolerances and fits.
- Knowledge of cutting tools and machining parameters.
- Good working knowledge of Vernier and micrometer.
- Ability to manufacture precision components independently.
- Good practical/mechanical understanding.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Qualification & Experience
- ITI – Turner / Machinist / Fitter preferred.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be an advantage.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience in a tool room, machine manufacturing, mould manufacturing or precision engineering environment will be preferred.
- Experience machining shafts, bushes, mould components, machine parts, jigs and fixtures will be an advantage.

Candidate Profile We are looking for a hands-on Turner who can independently set up jobs, select tools, understand drawings, machine components accurately and check his own work.

Experience in a tool-room environment and exposure to machining components for industrial machinery, moulds, dies, jigs and fixtures will be highly valued.

The candidate should be disciplined, safety-conscious, quality-focused and willing to coordinate with the Design, Tool Room, Production and Quality teams.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹32,000.00 per month
