Role summary The Gold Merchandiser owns the full life of our gold and diamond stock: what we buy, how it is made, where it sits and how it sells. The role tracks gold market prices to guide buying, plans collections, works with karigars (artisans) and suppliers on production, and keeps stock records accurate across workshop, warehouse and showrooms. The right person cuts stock loss, keeps production on time and helps the business price for profit.

Key responsibilities

Merchandising and sourcing

- Track daily gold rates and market trends to time purchases and guide buying decisions.
- Source gold jewellery from manufacturers and suppliers with a focus on quality, making charges and cost.
- Plan product assortment, designs and seasonal or bridal collections based on sales data and customer demand.
- Build pricing strategies and promotional plans that improve sales and margin.

Production coordination

- Work with the production team and karigars so pieces are made on time and to design specification.
- Manage customer and showroom orders from placement to delivery, with clear tracking at every stage.
- Monitor gold issue and receipt to karigars, including weight, wastage and making loss.
- Review production costs and drive cost-control initiatives without lowering quality.

Inventory control and audits

- Manage stock across thousands of SKUs in workshop, warehouse and showroom locations.




- Run periodic physical stock audits and reconcile differences against system records.
- Ensure zero unexplained deviation in gold and diamond movement between departments.
- Maintain accurate digital records in the inventory software and POS system.
- Design control checklists and audit routines that reduce shrinkage and stock loss.

Quality and compliance

- Inspect finished pieces for finish, weight and design accuracy, and resolve defects with production.
- Ensure all stock meets BIS hallmarking (HUID) and purity requirements.

Cross-team coordination

- Act as the link between design, production, procurement, sales and accounts.
- Share stock, ageing and sell-through reports with management on a regular schedule.
- Support showroom teams on visual merchandising and stock rotation.

Qualifications and experience

- Graduate in any discipline; a diploma in jewellery design, gemmology or retail management is a plus.
- 10+ years in the gold and diamond jewellery industry, ideally with an organised jewellery brand.
- At least 5 years in inventory control, stock audit or merchandising roles.
- Hands-on experience in production merchandising and karigar coordination.
- A sales-floor background (sales executive or consultant) that gives a transparent view of customer demand.
- Proven record of reducing stock loss or improving stock record accuracy.

Industry recognition for stock control, or a documented cut in stock loss at a known jewellery brand, is a strong advantage.
