About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Key Account Manager – Freight Forwarding to manage and grow strategic customer accounts. The role will focus on building strong customer relationships, driving profitable revenue growth, increasing customer wallet share, ensuring service excellence, and identifying opportunities to expand our logistics solutions.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience in freight forwarding and logistics , excellent stakeholder-management skills, and a proven ability to manage large corporate/MNC accounts and deliver business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Key Account Management
- Own and manage a portfolio of strategic and high-value customer accounts.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders.
- Understand customers’ supply-chain requirements, business objectives, and future logistics needs.
- Conduct regular customer meetings, performance reviews, and business reviews.
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact for assigned accounts.
- Develop and maintain strategic account plans.
2. Revenue & Business Growth
- Drive revenue and gross-profit growth across existing key accounts.
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities across Ocean Freight, Air Freight, FCL, LCL, Customs Clearance, Transportation, Warehousing , and other logistics solutions.
- Identify opportunities to increase the company’s share of customers’ overall logistics spend.
- Develop account growth strategies and deliver against assigned revenue and profitability targets.
- Identify new trade lanes, locations, services, and business opportunities within existing accounts.
3. Customer Retention & Relationship Management
- Build long-term relationships with strategic customers.
- Proactively identify customer concerns and coordinate timely corrective actions.
- Drive customer satisfaction, retention, and service improvement.
- Conduct regular service-performance reviews and implement improvement plans.
- Ensure customer expectations and agreed SLAs/KPIs are consistently met.
4. Commercial & Pricing Management
- Manage customer RFQs, tenders, rate negotiations, and commercial proposals .
- Coordinate with Pricing, Procurement, Operations, and other internal teams to develop competitive and profitable solutions.
- Monitor account profitability, pricing, margins, and overall commercial performance.
- Negotiate rates and commercial terms within approved company guidelines.
- Support tender and RFQ conversion through effective commercial proposals and customer engagement.
5. Operations & Service Coordination
- Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, Pricing, Finance, and Management teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Monitor shipment performance, documentation, billing, and exception management.
- Track customer-specific KPIs and SLAs.
- Escalate critical operational issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Coordinate with internal teams to address service gaps and improve customer experience.
6. Business Reviews & Reporting
- Prepare regular customer performance reports and management updates.
- Conduct monthly/quarterly business reviews with key customers.
- Track and analyse revenue, gross profit, shipment volumes, service levels, customer satisfaction, and account performance .
- Maintain accurate account plans, sales pipelines, customer activities, and opportunities in CRM.
- Provide management with regular updates on account performance and growth opportunities.
7. Market & Customer Intelligence
- Monitor customer's business developments, expansion plans, sourcing patterns, and logistics requirements.
- Track competitor activities, market trends, and changes in customer requirements.
- Identify emerging opportunities across trade lanes, geographies, products, and logistics services.
- Develop a strong understanding of customer supply chains and industry dynamics.

Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of freight forwarding and logistics operations .
- Positive understanding of Ocean FCL/LCL, Air Freight, Customs Clearance, Transportation, and Warehousing .
- Strong key-account management and stakeholder-management skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen.
- Ability to understand complex customer supply-chain requirements and develop effective logistics solutions.
- Robust problem-solving and escalation-management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools .
