About the role

We are looking for an HRBP - Retail & Head Office who can operate at the intersection of people, business and operations.

This role will partner closely with retail/store leadership as well as functional leaders at the head office. The ideal candidate will be comfortable being on the ground in stores,

solving employee and operational people issues, while also driving structured HR practices at the corporate level.

A strong understanding of retail talent acquisition, frontline hiring, workforce planning and employee engagement is critical for this role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Retail HR & Store Operations

- Act as the HR partner for the store/retail network and understand the people challenges associated with frontline operations.
- Partner with Store Managers and Operations teams on manpower planning, productivity, attendance, attrition and employee engagement.
- Drive HR processes across stores and ensure consistent implementation of policies and practices.
- Conduct regular store visits and stay closely connected with frontline employees.
- Identify people-related issues impacting store performance and work with business leaders to resolve them.
- Track and improve key retail people metrics such as attrition, absenteeism, hiring TAT, retention and productivity.

2. Talent Acquisition

- Own and drive hiring for retail/frontline as well as selected head-office positions.
- Build strong talent pipelines for store-level roles and critical corporate positions.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand manpower requirements and ensure timely closure of positions.
- Develop sourcing channels for frontline talent, including referrals, local hiring, job portals, institutes and other relevant channels.
- Improve the quality and speed of hiring while maintaining cost discipline.
- Build a strong candidate experience and onboarding process.

3. Head Office HRBP

- Partner with functional leaders across Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations, Technology and other corporate functions.
- Act as a trusted HR advisor on people matters, organisation structure, performance, employee relations and talent.
- Support managers in handling performance and employee-related issues.
- Drive employee engagement and culture initiatives for the corporate team.
- Identify capability and development needs and work with the L&D; team to address them.

4. Employee Relations & People Practices

- Handle employee grievances and ensure timely and fair resolution.

- Partner with business leaders on performance management and disciplinary matters.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable labour regulations, particularly across retail locations.
- Strengthen employee communication and engagement across stores and head office.
- Identify recurring people issues and recommend systemic solutions rather than only addressing individual cases.

5. Performance, Talent & Development

- Drive the performance management cycle across relevant employee groups.
- Support talent reviews, succession planning and career development.
- Identify high-potential employees within the retail network and create development pathways.
- Partner with managers to build stronger leadership capabilities at the store and corporate levels.

6. HR Analytics & Business Insights

- Build and track HR dashboards covering headcount, hiring, attrition, absenteeism, vacancies, cost and productivity.
- Provide actionable people insights to business leaders.
- Use data to identify trends and recommend interventions.

What We're Looking For
- 5–8 years of HR experience, preferably with significant exposure to retail, QSR, restaurants, hospitality, FMCG or other high-volume frontline businesses.
- Strong experience in retail/frontline talent acquisition and managing high-volume hiring.
- Experience partnering with store/field teams as well as corporate/head-office functions.
- Strong understanding of employee relations and frontline workforce challenges.
- Comfortable working on the ground and travelling to stores when required.
- Strong stakeholder-management and influencing skills.
- Data-oriented with the ability to translate HR metrics into business actions.
- Hands-on, entrepreneurial and comfortable working in a rapid-paced, growing organisation.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with employees across different levels.

What Success Looks Like In this role, success will mean:
- Right people, in the right stores, at the right time
- Faster and better-quality frontline hiring
- Reduced frontline attrition and absenteeism
- Stronger Store Manager and frontline capability
- Consistent HR practices across the retail network
- Strong employee engagement across stores and head office
- HR becoming a true business partner rather than a support function

If you enjoy being close to the business, solving real people problems on the ground, building teams, and creating scalable HR practices, we'd love to hear from you. Write to us at [email protected]
