Role: Freelance Fashion DesignerWe are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Freelance Fashion Designer to collaborate with Swadehi on designing men's and women's apparel and improving our garment development and production processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Design men's and women's apparel, developing original and commercially viable designs.
- Create fashion sketches, technical drawings and design concepts.
- Handle pattern making, garment measurements, fitting and sample development.
- Plan fabric consumption and allocation according to designs and production requirements.
- Optimize fabric layouts and minimize fabric wastage.
- Perform fabric spreading, pattern placement and cutting using appropriate cutting machines.
- Identify opportunities to reuse leftover fabrics and develop products from fabric scraps.
- Coordinate with tailors and production teams to ensure accurate garment construction and finishing.
- Evaluate stitching quality, garment fit and finishing, and recommend improvements.
- Research fabrics, textile crafts, garment construction techniques and contemporary fashion trends.

Required Skills




- Solid knowledge of fashion design, pattern making and garment construction.
- Good understanding of garment measurements, fitting and sample development.
- Knowledge of stitching techniques, stitching quality and garment finishing.
- Understanding of fabric properties, consumption planning and cutting techniques.
- Knowledge of fabric waste management and efficient marker planning.
- Creativity, attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

Preferred Skills
- Practical experience with fabric cutting machines and sewing techniques.
- Experience working with handcrafted, handloom or printed fabrics.
- Experience in men's and women's apparel development.
- A portfolio showcasing fashion designs, technical drawings or completed garments is a plus.

- Compensation: Based on experience, project scope and mutual agreement.
